Wow. The visuals look incredible. The two champions from XXI are facing off against Janemba. First, the leader from the Kaioshin Realm; then, the king from the Demon Realm; and next, the amalgamation of all the evils from hell. XXI has truly assembled an extraordinary and impressive lineup of fighters. I just wish he had more than just these three. 1 Odpowiedzi

I knew this was how it happened: XXI's devouring of his universe unintentionally or otherwise caused that machine's destruction, essentially creating Janemba much like how he was manifested in the film. It's also possible something in or about XXI or his universe made that Oni go straight to being Super Janemba.
I have a hunch that Salagir might not be very fond of Janemba’s design or concept, which is why he jumps straight to Super Janemba instead—the transformation that most fans probably associate with Janemba. Of course, the movie suggests that Janemba and his transformation mimic Buu in a certain way, since the Buu arc was still relevant during the film’s production. Fat Buu = Fat Janemba; Super Buu = Super Janemba.

BangBang napisał:
So XXI accidentally created Janemba and then enslaved him.
That would explain why the U18 Z-Fighters didn't recognize Janemba during the tournament match between Gast and XXI. They've never encountered Janemba in their universe.

Damian Qualshy napisał:
That still doesn't make sense. And honestly neither does the distinction between Janemba and Super Janemba (we don't really know why he transforms other than for suspense in the movie, right?).
If there's less souls for the machine to work then it just works normally, it's not powered by souls that it takes.
If I remember correctly, Fat Janemba transformed into Super Janemba after Goku hit him directly with an attack and presumably injured him severely.

As for the soul-purification machine, I suspect that XXI's attempt to devour Hell caused some kind of malfunction in the machine. Whether the machine was full of souls or not is a matter for debate.

Not what I am missing exactly. But be honest, you take this chapter and show it to anyone who is familiar with db/dbz but unfamiliar with dbm, they will not make the connection that this has anything to do with dragon ball. The entire vibe is so drastically different, it can literally be anything. And no, it is not about the art style either. There are a lot of unique art styles of fan manga (a good few of DBM's other chapters, too, we don't have to go far) that still pull off a distinct dragon ball vibe.
Don't forget that this chapter focuses entirely on XXI's backstory. Unlike the previous one, which treated the Kaioshins as the chapter's secondary focus, this one is all about XXI (and Poran) and how he became the character we'll meet later in the DBM tournament. And since XXI is an exclusive DBM OC, and on top of that a character who comes across quite differently from what’s typical in fanfiction, it’s no surprise that this chapter feels a bit different from typical Dragon Ball. Unfortunately, I can’t give you any advice other than to just accept it as it is. 1 Odpowiedzi

Would a wish even be necessary? Back in the Buu saga just killing Dabura solved the problem, I figured killing his ancestor would be enough... Well it's just a nitpick anyways (he might not even be dead, just feels weird that XXI wouldn't eat him afterwards).

Universe being gone I wonder what the next course of action is. My best guess is he'll go after other "realms" like the afterlife, but I'm more curious if he'll do something more interesting, he is referred to as "the one who replaced the universe" at one point afterall.
It seems Hopocus isn't dead and I guess XXI will impison him like he did with the Dai Kaioshin.

How quickly did that spit stone spell get reset? That could easily give the nanobots in the Ultra Heloites’ bloodstream a run for their money, lol. Nevertheless, XXI would naturally use a wish to find a solution to the problem.

It seems like these figures are all Hopocus’ Demon Goons. Demon Lords, so to speak, who serve only the Demon King. And now that he’s been defeated, they’re trying their luck on their own. Just my take on it.

Fascinating, it only took XXI 26 million years to devour the Demon Realm, or maybe we’re just finding out now, since Poran has gotten pretty sassy, haha. I like it.

I think in this case, it can be explained by the fact that the Z Sword actually dealt damage to XXI. Since Lady Dai was already dead when he pulled the sword out, I suspect that XXI then set out to find the source of the power, namely Old Kai. And in doing so, he presumably left Dai Kaioshins' body behind. Perhaps she would have been consumed had she not landed a decisive blow with the Z Sword.

I really like Lady Dai Kaioshin's design. She simply reminds me of one of my OCs, lol.

So, as I see it, it seems that in the DBM continuity, Enma Daio truly only grants permission for someone to return to the realm of the living (for a short time) in extremely rare situations. If we’re being honest, King Yemma didn’t even allow West Kaioshin and North Kaioshin to return for a day when Kid Buu was about to kill/absorb the remaining Kaioshins (South, East, Dai).

Well, he's an ogre. They're specifically associated with the Other World. Kaioshins, on the other hand, have their own realm. To be honest, that’s an interesting question: which came first, the ogres or the Kaioshin? Enma is in charge of the Check-In Station, which is where the souls of the deceased pass into the afterlife.

Seggui, no! I really hope he’s not dead. To be honest, that would mean a lot to me personally. Even though it’s clearly implied that Seggui dies at the end, with his eyes completely white. But that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s actually dead. In CH43, Seggui supposedly died at Bojack’s hands, too. There’s still hope that he’s just close to death again here and will miraculously survive, like last time. That could definitely become a new running gag, with Seggui constantly surviving seemingly certain death situations. I respect Seggui’s perseverance, at least. A real roly-poly doll, even though he’s literally lying on the ground right now, haha.

I also like the little detail in the word choice. Seggui wants to see him hanged. Pirates were hanged in executions back in the day. A little nod to real-world history and the fact that Bojack is considered a (space) pirate.

Wraith napisał:

I have to say, the text box at the end is a bit suspicious. The wording leaves room for speculation. He died in bed, but did he die peacefully? Did he die as an old man? I doubt it, because we know that Snower “disappears” at the age of 1,139. His father, Blizzard, was over 1,500 years old when he was killed in battle. Snower should actually have had enough potential to live at least as long as his father. I suspect DBM wants to wrap up the chapter but leave enough possibilities open to suggest what actually happened to Snower a hundred years later.

Thank you so much for all your hard work on this chapter. It was certainly a long-term investment. It paid off. Your art style is phenomenal. If I were to ask, what kind of guidelines were there regarding Seggui? For example, his armor. Was it specified that the scar on his stomach had to be covered? Did you have the freedom to develop the armor? The many OC characters like the Duke or the Jaykal scientists or the remaining Jaykal soldiers. Did you design them all? And with Snower, did you have the freedom to design his final form (aka 4th form) yourself, or were there guidelines from the DBM team for that as well? Because as someone who has read the Hanasia novel, including the fan art inside, including Snower’s, I was surprised for a moment by Snower’s appearance in this chapter. However, I’ve really grown to love his design here.

Yes, Seggui seems a bit crazy in this situation, thinking he can do anything against Snower. And I find this madness, which Seggui himself doesn’t even realize, a bit fascinating. I would have written some things differently regarding his personality at this stage of his life, but I’m not disappointed with DBM’s version. Seggui was certainly a respectable commander before the events of CH43. Bojack must have done so much damage to him, both physically and mentally.

Frost demons are skilled in telekinesis. We saw that with Freeza. I suspect that Snower simply ripped the key components of Seggui’s armor, which had been added by his scientists and were essentially fused to his body, right out of Seggui’s body. Which is presumably intended to cause Seggui to bleed to death. Imagine X-Men 2 Movie, when Magneto rips out the metal form inside a man's body. 2 Odpowiedzi

Just like "DDDDD" mentioned in the comment section. There’s that famous saying: “Better an enemy you know than one you don’t.”

I think the Kaios would be better off having a tyrant like Snower as their adversary than someone like Bojack. You can’t negotiate, reason with, or properly manipulate the pirate. He doesn’t fall for the usual attempts at appeasement. He can cause chaos at any moment. We’ve already seen that when he kills his own crew members as soon as they show even a hint of defiance, backtalk, or insolence.

And you're right. U9 Old Kaioshin is also willing to negotiate with someone like Raditz when it comes to choosing the lesser of two evils.

Just a quick correction here. The Special and Bojack's sealing take place in the year 507. DBZ, on the other hand, is set mainly from the year 760 onward. The Bojack Gang is therefore (in U18) sealed away for only approximately 250 years.

So Snower has at least partially kept the promise of peace he made in the Hanasia novel. For 400 years, since he became Emperor, he has not expanded his empire. Admittedly, at the time of this special, about 300 years have already passed since he began conquering planets again. Jayna is, of course, a good example. Unfortunately, we don’t know the exact details of what Snower’s conquest campaigns looked like, but I’d guess that his methods differ from those of Cold and Freeza.

ok. I can appreciate this, as it makes the last page less contrived.

but it does still beg the question "if the 4 kaios can seal up people like bojack, why not cell? or other people of that rank in terms of strength?"

Thats 2 questions, actually.

perhaps the kaios can only seal so many away, and the bojack gang was their limit, and had they not been sealed, cell could have been sealed as well.

I'm actually curious, can kaioshin do this? or other gods?

I feel like they could, but these kaios trained to do this maybe, so thats why the kaioshin can't.
I’ve long wondered why the four Kaios only sealed the Bojack gang. The out-of-universe explanation, of course, is that the creators of the Bojack Unbound movie simply threw this ability of the Kaios into the plot without really considering the consequences for the world-building.

In-universe, I’d propose two theories.
First, the Kaios can only use this ability to seal someone once. If they want to do it again, they have to clear out the prison. Think of it like a Poké Ball. Once you’ve caught a Pokémon, you can’t use the same Poké Ball to catch a wild Pokémon again. Not until you release the captured creature and free up space.
The other theory is that the sealing process draws on the Kaios’ life energy. This ability can be so taxing on them that a second attempt to imprison someone in a new prison could cost them their lives. (Similar to Mafuba.)

Darius napisał:
Knowledge of the Kai wasnt special. As the position of kami isn't just one on earth. King Kai at least in the Japanese script said that he was god over planetary kami. So it wouldn't need witches when you could just talk to random gods of each planet. Even with that it was never stated that baba was the only witch. Infact you saw a witch that was on the Supreme Kai planet. That's how old Kai fused with a witch.
You're absolutely right about the witch in the realm of the Kaioshin. I agree with you. However, even though a lot of fanfiction promotes the idea that the deities are widely known throughout the universe and among the general populace, that's not how it's portrayed in DBZ itself. It’s still treated as if knowledge of the Kaios and Kaioshins is limited to those who are either connected in some way to a planetary Kami or possess knowledge of the Other World. And you’re also right that the Kaios could theoretically make contact with mortals at any time, but my point was more that a mortal could initiate contact with the deities on their own, without having to enter the Other World themselves.

Philsdesign napisał:
How is King Kai already on his mini-planet with his car? That planet was Bojacks seal and he hasn't sealed him yet

That said, the whole sealing needs a better explanation as to how it works because the Kai's are below Nappa in terms of strength yet can somehow seal a whole group of beings far stronger then Frieza and who's leader is close to Cell

And politics or not, why not just seal the Frost demons too. Polar might not be blowing up planets but he's still committing mass genocide wiping out entire civilizations and then selling the empty planets (maybe drop a line that Beerus ordered this because he believes this race will produce a suitable future God of Destruction, which does happen since he thought Frieza could potentially being his succesor)
The Bojack movie doesn't explain how the Seal connects to Kaio's planet. It just states that it does. Kaio's planets existed even before they sealed Bojack. And they've always been that small.

Every single sealing in Dragon Ball, whether through technique or magic, has always involved a weaker character sealing away a stronger one. I don't understand why this should suddenly be so different for Bojack and Kaio compared to the standard in Dragon Ball.

But of course it makes sense that Snower communicated with the Kaios beforehand, as was hinted at on page 2651. It’s a truly brilliant idea to frame the backstory for the North Kaios’ precious car as a kind of bribe.

One thing that has always bothered me in Dragon Ball is the implication that Uranai Baba is supposedly the only entity in the universe who represents a concrete connection between the Mortal Realm and the Other World. And, of all people, she’s Master Roshi’s sister (how convenient). It would be perfectly logical to assume that there are a large number of witches in the universe who can establish contact with Enma Daio. To be honest, I found it incredibly biased that, yet again, an ally of the Z-Fighters possesses such an enormously helpful ability. But if there were enough witches in the universe who possessed such an ability, then I think it’s more than plausible that a calculating galactic emperor would somehow learn of such a witch and recruit her. Snower used the Duke as a sort of spy to ultimately find out where Bojack was hiding. I wholeheartedly welcome the fact that a logically acting antagonist would also exploit the advantages of the Other World for his own benefit.

You have to ask yourself: does it really make sense that, throughout the history of the universe, only Bibidi and the Z Fighters somehow learned of the existence of the Kaio/Kaioshin? Over the course of millions of years? The very fact that there’s a rule allowing deceased warriors to return to the realm of the living for a day suggests that, aside from Goku, Earth, and the witch Baba, there must be other planets, other heroes, and other witches.

And I love how the last panel basically confirms the content of the Hanasia novel here. Haha. Yeah, Snower is one of the few Frostdemons who came to power through skill and manipulation. The Rule of 2 is mentioned verbatim, which in DBM at least explains why the last Frostdemon family clans ultimately had only two children each (or got eliminated by not abiding to the rule). And it also explains why Frostdemons do occupy a privileged position in the universe, so to speak, among the deities. The powerful work together to maintain the status quo they have achieved. Let's rig the 'game' so newcomer cannot reach that same level. That's probably Snower's biggest achievement here. 3 Odpowiedzi

An incredible twist that I really love. Snower apparently planned this from the very beginning. We can assume that he set this in motion around page 2651. He involves the Kaios so that, as deities, they take on their responsibilities and maintain the balance of the universe.

Snower’s choice of words is also incredibly clever. Essentially, Snower isn’t condemning Bojack’s power, but rather his intention in how he uses it. Snower’s power developed naturally, and he cultivated it over time. That shapes one’s personality. Unlike Bojack, who received his power suddenly, into a vessel filled with a destructive mindset. Bojack destroys; Frostdemons administer. That is why I suspect the Kaios respond to Snower's plea.

Much as I may dislike the idea that weaklings like the Kai Kings (beings weaker than Nappa) could seal away a gang of this caliber

When it comes to sealing, regardless of power level, I have to agree with “Cuckoo Bananas Crazy.” In all notable cases of imprisonment, it has always been weaker characters who have tried to trap stronger opponents using a technique or magic.

Master Mutaito, Muten Roshi, and Tenshinhan were clearly weaker than Piccolo Daimao, but they either managed to or nearly succeeded in sealing Piccolo with the Mafuba. Bibidi sealed Buu inside his cocoon millions of years ago, and the wizard was certainly weaker than Buu. The Konatsians, thanks to their magic, sealed the Kaju Hirudegarn, who clearly has at least an SSJ2-tier power level, inside the bodies of Tapion and Minotia, who are most likely not very strong.

So I have to wonder why, of all groups, the powerlevels of the users of a sealing tactic should be relevant in the case of the Bojack Gang, when they aren’t in the other cases.

I don't think the Cardinal Kais should've intervened here. It's weird that they let intergalactic tyrants reign free, but stop a small group of individuals for defending themselves against them.

They should've intervened after they went around the galaxy ransacking the place like the pirates that they are.
I think that’s an interesting point. Here’s how I see it. The Frostdemon Empire under Snower might represent stability. Even though it’s led by a family of tyrants, at least the main planet on page 2650 seemed to me like a functioning society. Bojack, on the other hand, seems like a plague of locusts that destroys everything in its path and leaves nothing but scorched earth behind.

Ironically, the Kaios have already intervened in the affairs of mortals once before because of Frostdemons. The Hanasia novel mentions how, many generations ago, Frostdemons multiplied too rapidly and devastated entire planets due to their internecine wars. The Kaio suggested to the Dai Kaio that the species not be completely eliminated, but rather that their spread be curbed. This is why the “Rule of 2” was introduced. Each Frostdemon is to produce only two offspring. And Snower seems to have adhered to this, which is likely why he enjoys the Kaio’s favor.

Suddenly, the Kaios can teleport and seal that guy. Even though Kaio couldn't even make Goku return to Earth on the spot and Goku needed to run the snake's road again. Not sure how Snower could go to the afterlife in the first place, it's not like Freeza's family knew about Dragon Balls or gods.
I see it differently. Weaving together established lore enriches the world-building. If you actively argue the opposite, aren’t you subtly admitting that the problem lies more with the original than with DBM?

As for the Kaio's teleportation. I agree, that does seem strange. However, I have to ask myself: How did Goku actually get back to Earth after training with King Kai? He took the Snake Way back to the Check-in Station at Enma Daio, and there Kami basically picked him up, and they both “teleported” to the Lookout. How exactly? Is it ever explained? If not, there’s a possibility that every Guardian of a planet has a connection to Enma Daio. What if you could travel from Enma Daio to any place in the universe, provided the Guardian of that planet was present? What if the four Kaios met at Enma Daio and, from there, traveled to the planet Jayna with the help of that planet’s Kami? 1 Odpowiedzi

1 Odpowiedzi

My only problem with the technique is that its limits and effects are pretty much not properly defined. The saiyans killed them to quickly to know just how well the energy bonds work. Like trunks gets sapped of his strength then instantly transforms again to catch vegeta so is it sapping his energy or just his stamina. Likely it only drained energy and not stamina because gohan and trunks instantly returned to Super saiyan in the next scenes of them getting caught by it. Then on the other scale since the hera-jin never really recieve that much damage in-between each fight we don't know how much they actually recover from absorbing that energy. Hell we don't even know if they were getting stronger because of the binds because gohan pretty much one-shots them. The only thing we do know is that pushing more power into the threads breaks them so no mecha cooler nonsense.
Interesting points. I would say that users of the Psycho Thread don't necessarily absorb the victims' energy. It's perhaps a bit like barbed wire: the more the victim struggles against it, the more harm they inflict on themselves. 1 Odpowiedzi

Everyone is more likable than Bojack. Many are so blinded by their hatred for the character Bojack that they refuse to see or even recognize, the meaning behind his role. Bojack is simply a bully who was lucky enough to gain incredible power. He exploits this power just as someone who never deserved it would. That’s exactly what makes watching Bojack so frustrating. It perfectly mirrors the opposite of other characters who worked to gain and cultivate their power. Bojack, accordingly, meets a pitiful death, just as he deserves.

That’s actually interesting to know. There are some details we know for sure. Snower is 1043 years old at the time of this special. Freeza was 192 years old during his battle with Goku on Namek, at least according to the DBM continuity. We also know that Frostdemons become stronger as they age. Additionally, each new generation of Frostdemons has slightly greater potential to be stronger than their parents at the same age.

This very topic was discussed in the commentsection on page 2675. It wouldn’t be too far-fetched to claim that Snower is currently slightly weaker than Perfect Cell, or at least about as strong as a Cell Jr. We’ve at least seen Snower fight Bido. And in the movie, we saw that Bido, together with Zangya and Bujin, was able to keep Post-Cell-Games SSJ1 Son Gohan at bay and corner him.

I've always found this technique really fascinating. It’s a pretty effective restraining attack. I think the only ways to counter this attack are either to dodge it long enough until you get close enough to the user, at which point the attack can’t be used successfully, or to be several power levels stronger and break through the threads, like Gohan did in the movie when he unleashed his aura in Super Saiyan 2.

I completely agree with that. The Bojack Gang is widely considered a contender for the title of best teamwork among villain teams in all of Dragon Ball. Ironically, it’s their boss, of all people, who is the loose end that ruins their teamwork.

Your nickel napisał:
Come to think of it, we never did find out how they came up with this Energy Bind technique, did we? Most of them seem to just know it
That’s an incredibly good question. It’s true, we never found out how this technique came about. In the wiki, it’s called “Psycho Thread.” But ultimately, I can live with that. Technically speaking, we’ve also never learned “how” Piccolo developed the Special Beam Technique, or how Krillin invented the Kienzan, etc.

But one question remains unanswered. Is the Psycho Thread a species-specific technique of the Jaykals/Herajin, a technique that, in principle, anyone can learn, or perhaps even exclusively linked to the Jaykal Super Soldier Experiment? If it’s the latter, the technique would be exclusive only to those who participated in the experiment. And that would mean that an extremely small number, well under 100 people in the universe, would be able to use the technique. (That would be an interesting point for future Herajin/Jaykal OCs) 1 Odpowiedzi
