I think he knows Trunks is stronger (He's not deluded like his brother), and is trying to cause a distraction so he can hit him with the Death Ball, which is the only attack likely to hurt Trunks.

If it's that easy for a blast to go wayward and hit the audience, these guys won't exactly be able to use their full power in these fights.

What would happen if a guy got knocked off the little planet and smashed into the audience? Would that be a ring-out, or would the guy who knocked him into the audience get disqualified for hurting the audience?

I'm talking about the panel someone posted above by the way, not the New Year one.

In Japan, the DBZ dramatist(playwright) guy named 小山高生 (Takao Koyama) gets a hell lot of blamed because he is the one who set Broly as the "mightiest" charcter in DBZ Canon/TV/Movie series. Though I'm not sure if he is also well-known in America or not...

Whoever deflects it is disqualified, interfering with the fight and whatnot. Unless Trunks manages it.

As for deflecting the blast to save the audience: I think, you're correct...

But I am sure, perhaps they just make an exception here.
I mean, interfering with the fight would mean to help one fighter or something, deflecting THAT ki blast wouldn't affect the fight - considering that Trunks couldn't make it there in time to deflect it anyway.

@ Broten- Trunks didn't deflect those attacks, Cooler just fired them. Nobody would be blind enough to think the newly fired shots are the same ones Trunks deflected.

@ Saigo- Cooler is shooting the audience. The real page follows through with it.

@ George- He hasn't messed up the plot for us yet, so relax. I can tell the makers of this comic know what they are doing. They understand Dragon Ball well and won't kill off Trunks unless it makes sense to.

@ Some Guy- No, it's not that easy for their blasts to "go wayward." If Cooler wanted to, he could fire them right at Trunks like he did in the last page. Cooler is obviously missing intentionally.

Also, good job on Vegeta being too proud to wear the mask... and doesn't what Goten and Trunks are doing look like they're forming a cow face? Maybe I've just been up too long.

PS: Trunks could make it to one of them in time to deflect it, but not all of them. I think Cooler was leading up to that on the last page. "Would he, by chance... try and protect the audience?" or something simmilar to that.

@ Geno – But what if someone dodges a blast or deflects it? What if the blast is simply so powerful that it would hurt the audience anyway? That's what I meant. With the audience around, these guys might not be able to go all out.

Lol @ mask on Broly's frozen body and Freeza actually wearing it. Seems like Freeza does have a sense of humor.

ive got a question for the creators: will you use canon characters only? (i mean characters that appeared in DB/Z in some form, just also in alternate universe versions) or will you create characters yourself, too?

because id like to see some characters that arent really canon at all... female sayans born on planet vegeta... female changelings(thats friezas race, isnt it?)... a fusion of piccolo and cooler(or someone else thats not human) via potara, master roshi who wished for enternal youth in the king piccolo arc (instead of oolong wishing for panties) such stuff :D

I don't think the audience can be killed that easily, because I remember something about a shield... But I don't know who said that...

Anyway, shouldn't the "Tournament So Far" image on the News page look like this by now?

@ Some Guy- The audience is there with the potential danger in mind, and if they get killed they will simply be wished back. There's no reason for anybody to hold back in their fights. However, Trunks comes from a place where he had to live his life seeing people suffer and die, and so he might still want to try and protect those people. This is what Cooler is counting on, having seen Trunks deflect those blasts away from everyone else.

@ Eison- I don't remember anything about a shield... and yes, the tournament should look like that. These people really need to fix that.

Also, I think they still have Cooler's head a little wrong, but it's good enough I suppose.

Cooler surely wasn't trying to hit Trunks. I just don't think that he would use such desperate plan.

Cooler is dq-ing himself so he lives, as he and frieza are planning to obtain the dragonballs and control the universes.

I fail to see how Cooler disqualifying himself helps them achieve their goal. For one, it puts them at one less in the tournament. Also, Cooler is the strongest person from that universe unless Frieza found a way to surpass him. If Cooler can't handle it, then who from their universe can?

I suppose there is a chance that they might try to take everyone by surprise after the fact when everyone's few and tired so they can steal their wishes, but I'd assume that probably won't happen. After all, if even one person is more powerful than they are, then they'd be completely out-matched if that person had others on his side as well. Still, there is a slight chance that such an attempt might happen, but I still think it wouldn't.

Looking at the bracket one future matchup's gonna be interesting (South Supreme Kai vs. Fat Buu)

All this talk about frieza and coola takin over the universe makes me want to see all the shenrons and porungas from every galaxy up in the air at once.

Trunks is going to block that shot at the audience and then win.

Just thinking of the same thing and I think that Buu will absorb the South Supreme Kai, once more resulting in a Buff Buu (maybe?). That'd be weird though.... 2 South Supreme Kai's in 1 Buu. Damn, talk about overbuff :P

well Broly has still to fight.....he is in the first round...once he awakens i think he is going to try and destroy everything before we can even see the second round match ups....

Will Janemba participate in the tournament? IMO he would kick anyone's butt (unless fighting Gogeta/Vegetto).

I'm guessing in the Nappa vs Freeza in the next round it'll turn out Nappa is a SSJ and beats Freeza. Vegeta calles all of them the 'Super Saiyans' so I doubt it's just him that has the form.

I know, you can't have a new year for every ne year in all ethnicities there are, and there's no way to know of all of them. I don't mind not having a persian New Year's page, I'm fine with the greater ones (although the Arabic variant of the new year is quite huge too, but I don't think the majority of the readers are arabic, so that wouldn't be neccessary either I suppose).

I bet Trunks is gonna pop out of nowhere and slice Cooler to bits ala Frieza.
