If the Vargas can do this, why didn't they send back Bra, Babidi et al?

They got blown up instantly by Dabura, Babadi took measures to ensure this didn’t happen whatsoever, and in the case of Babidi and Bra, sending one of his groups away wouldn’t really stop his other ones

iron leaf was saying:
Basically, when mechanic Varga on page 1990 wanted to send Buu back to the U4, Buu prevented that by damaging the main machine again. The command to the replacement engine/drone in space arrived only (at most) 10 minutes later on page 2059. From a chronological point of view, this fits. The cocoon cannot be sent back ... Buu escapes from the cocoon ... short discussion ... Battle Buuyale begins ... Drone reappears in U0 and receives instructions to send Buu back to his universe 4 ... the replacement machine sends Buu back.
I think when the pink leader Varga pressed the button in panic and asked the Namekian to heal the machine, it had virtually nothing to do with Buu's sending back, because it was still the order of mechanic Varga from 10 minutes ago.

Yeah... no. I can understand the idea, but the whole thing was poorly excecuted. In a medium such as a comic you can't state one thing (Buu controls Varga Tech, reads minds, etc.) and then a few pages later retcon it (He actually doesn't) to "outsmart" the readers to create a false sense of mystery and "anything can happen". It's frustrating, you're just trolling the readers. Readers find satifaction when they are rewarded for paying attention to detail, among other things. For instance, one of the most rewarding moments was when the readers found Kakarotto (evil Goku) was immortal before it was confirmed. There were many hints throughout the comic. I honestly didn't notice before other reader pointed out the evidence. If they wanted to get rid of Buu they simply had to make the device work the first time, when Buu was sealed by XII. Defeating Zen Buu with such ease sets XII as the strongest participant, which works because he is aimed to be the main foe, or at least a very important character. Now the Varga girl has the spotlight because she seemingly saved the situation. Why? With what purpose in the story? She doesn't even have a name! Jesus! Are you gonna tell me now, 2000 plus pages the Vargas are more than side characters created to justify the multiverse tournament? Don't we have enough loose ends and side stories as it is? I think this needs a bit of closure before opening even more storylines. Just sayin'...

I agree if we pre-suppose the button did anything via the Varga outsmarting Buu, although I think this is another ploy by Buu, as going by the most simple of 3rd grade story writing this story arc doesn’t even properly reach its climax like the previous one did, that being the Bra massacre, and I think the fact Buu isn’t incapacitated in any way, shape or form and the fact he has enough knowledge to not only repair the tech, but control when it does and doesn’t work should give him enough info on how to replicate the tech with the “only can be used by universe 1” clause changed to fit him or removed all together, and considering this Buu has the intellect of countless beings combined, this isn’t at all far-fetched, especially not as odd as it would have been to just have him… removed at the demand of the plot.

Yay mega happy ending this was pointless!

Very very VERY much doubt something this corny would be let slide, it’s not like Buu was even incapacitated prior to him getting sent away, so I very much see the possibility of him coming back, the calmness of the Grand Kaio-shin should be noted as if Buu was gone for good I doubt he’d just be like “damn, we lost, that’s crazy, anyways yeah I think the tourney should keep going” his insistence on this tournament happening, along with the sudden nature of the plot button appearing and this tournament basically being a one-and-done if Buu doesn’t re-appear, due to the victor of the next matches not mattering whatsoever as XVII one-shots every possible opponent with the time distortion room, I REALLY don’t see someone as haxxed out, relative to top tiers, and smart as Buu being gone for good, unless we get a even bigger twist that would shake the foundation of the story wayyyyy too much.
