Except the part where that came after a good long saga with a good final for a good story. Not this anticlimatic ending for a tournament (yeah yeah, I know the story didn't end... Still is a bad development for an incredibly long part of this fanmanga)


Well quality is subjective.

I thought the ending of this fight was fine but if rushed.

I dont mind the ending but would have preferred more to it.

Maybe xxi could have tried more things before stopping time.

But we did get foreshadowing about piccolo bypassing the effect maybe, so we'll see.

I don't get the people acting like this is all that much of a surprise. XXI outclasses Goku, we've known that for a while. Any bullcrap final hour power that Goku would've pulled out here to make things even would've been more annoying.

And so, after so many years, the Multiverse Tournament ends. With a whimper.

What an utter disgrace. Salagir went and humiliated the main protagonist of Dragonball, showing little respect to him in this fight or to those who care about the character - the childhood hero of many people, myself included. Worse still, from the buildup and, heck, the chapter cover itself, this seems to be no fluke, but a genuine attempt to troll the readers.

Just to make things perfectly clear: the issue here is NOT that XXI won the match, and thus the tournament. XXI winning could have been a great twist, especially after the foreshadowing suggested that XXI himself was not sure of his victory. Most people would have expected Goku to win somehow, and defying expectations can be a good thing, if done well. Goku trying his best and still failing could have been epic.

But instead, Goku lost like a moron.

Every single opponent of XXI, even Vegetto who confronted him first, knew that they should not give him the chance to cast any spells or use other magic. Heck, even Goku showed awareness of this fact at the start of the match, when he tried to arrange things so he could transform PRIOR to the beginning of the battle. So then, after breaking out of XXI's alternate dimension, why, just WHY in the name of all kaio shins did he simply stand there, monolouging like an idiot??? That was his chance, his ONLY chance in fact to strike back, and he wasted it. According to Vegeta, less than a second is pretty much "an eternity" in this form, so he apparently wasted more than an eternity to brag - and paid for it with his life. His defeat is utterly humiliating.

Call me an entitled reader, if you want. But actually, even if my contribution wasn't huge, I've been part of this fancomic's team for around 15 years now, doing comment mod work and translating pages to Hungarian day after day, week after week. I've tried to remain constructive when Pan was killed, I've tried to voice my concerns in a civil manner when U16 Bra was let off the hook. But this... this is worse than those combined, and it breaks my heart. :( This feels like all my efforts were a waste of time, because Salagir not only made Goku look like an idiot, but deemed it necessary to end the tournament, the main theme of the ENTIRE story, with a random, anticlimactic plot device - because that's what I'k'l's power is. We have no idea how it works, how it could possibly be countered, we have no idea why cyborgs are unaffected by it... it's just conveniently there. So, so incredibly disappointing and disheartening. :(

That would probably qualify as preemptive manipulation of his opponent, though. The equivalent of drugging a team before a big game. I doubt the Varga would permit something like that.

Maybe it's I'K'L's ability like some have suggested? The possible foreshadowing of someone 'more dangerous' having the time stop is an interesting point, and would line up with how Goku just suddenly incurred this open wound through his chest. But then I'K'L needed to press his hands together and there was an outward resonance. XXI may have been hiding his hands in his sleeves but the resonance should still be spreading out. Who knows? If he did actually stop time then #16 should be able to clarify since he's immune to the spell.

Seeing those panels now makes me think of bocodamondo. I don't think he'll get back on animating DBM, but it was pretty cool while he did. RIP his computer memory...

XXI better spit Gast, or he is out. Doesnt matter how poweful he is, he will be sent back to his universe if he kills Gast now. Plus, he wants his wish, he wont attack the organizers.
Anyway, we'll see what happens, I think it would be cool to have the final be between Goku and Gast (a callback to the 23th Tenkaichi Budokai), but I doubt that happens, especially after all these years hyping XXI...speaking of which, it has be more than a decade since the Vegetto vision, it has been like a decade since Bardock left the tournament, yet some people still think the visions will happen? lol.

Man I hope this was part of some plan Gast had. Because between Buu killing him and XXI making him look like a terrified child, he has been knocked down to look like a wimp almost as much as Vegito has. Crazy how the 2 strongest and coolest/badass characters at the start have turned into chumps.

Also I do wonder, if that Namek heard Gast, then wouldn't he have also heard XXI continue to attack/consume Gast after he forfeited? I mean he did tell Gast basically that they can't hear you so I'm not stopping. Wouldn't that have made him lose by DQ?

I'm calling it, Gast is going to be saved somehow. That last panel and bubble is either to hype the terror or to be contradicted in the following page. I hope I'm wrong though, I really want someone to die, I want to feel the stakes of the next XII fight popping off. My only worry is that we might run into a Madara situation where only a deus ex can save the good guys. So, maybe this is a good chance to show XXI isn't as unstoppable as he think he is

Guys, the chapter is called “Awards Ceremony” so:
— Gast lost as he forfeited;
— XXI kept on absorbing him regardless of his words and so the Vargas will decrate his loss as well! Of course they heard him since they were smart enough to outsmart Buu;
— Goku will be decreed winner but XXI will start his shennanigans and the real show will begin!

Best fan fiction ever. Cell, Buu, Goku, Vegeta, Broly, Gast, Bra, Vegitto and so much more. Honestly knocked this story out of the park. Well done and thank you for the entertainment over the years. In my opinion it's almost flawless :)

Why would Goku not able to defeat XXI? Goku wont fall for that dimension trick (even 18 didnt fall for it). And even if XXI uses Janemba against Goku, Goku at his full power should be able to defeat Janemba pretty easy.
