I'm honestly hoping chiaotzu gets the kill through some trickery and skill. It's one of my greatest peeves in this fandom that people treat these characters as always strictly being on certain tiers of power and no amount of training or preparation or alternate scenarios can have a meaningful impact on that.

The main characters grow in pretty significant leaps and bounds, the side characters shouldn't just be shackled to their canon power levels if circumstances change.

Earth is famous for people using attacks that are stronger then they are, chiaotzu doesn't have to be a useless joke.

Jblaze94 was saying:
I guess in this universe vegeta didn't feel like warning nappa about the kienzan. Not sure how the saiyans didn't improve over 10 years. Earthlings with no special training should be able to keep up with them.

That's not very surprising at all. Saiyans in most iterations who haven't discovered the power of real training and ki control only get permanently stronger when they nearly die. Nearly all of frieza's people see Power as something you just innately have and they don't actively work to get stronger. They'll naturally be a bit better than they were 10 years prior most likely just from the occasional brush with death and a little bit more experience but since none of them have had the thought to do any serious training for the sake of growing their strength they shouldn't be all that much different than they were in the original series.

The humans, on the other hand, have had 10 years of hard dedicated training to bridge the gap.

Gohan over there is still a massive wild card though, with his huge rage boost and no way of judging just how strong he'll have gotten.

This is why the idea of "Broly is Literally Invincible, ignore all those movies where he died" is just ass. How did Broly survive the UNMAKING OF ALL CREATION? The guy exists, doesn't he? He's alive, isn't he? It's he really just SO STRONGERER that he... What... "Tanks" the unravelling of reality and unmaking of all souls?

This is the greatest example of why power levels being taken literally is stupid.

Your nickel was saying:

Specifically in DBM (unlike the movies), he is absolutely invincible while in LSSJ. Salagir said on page 186 of the main comic that "Vegetto fused with himself 100 times and in SSJ999999 can't hurt Broly". You need to "psychologically shock him" out of LSSJ and back into regular SSJ in order to actually damage him.

That, on top of his power rising indefinitely, are some of the reasons he's my least favorite part of DBM.

You're right, that's dumb.

What the heck- "broly doesn't bleed because he's invincible"- he's literally not invincible. We see him die. He does from a move that ruptured his chest open. In the movie it's just Energy Glow and he explodes, but what happens to someone who has blood on their body of that body is damaged to the point where the blood is? They bleed.

I could maybe see an argument of "past a certain point how blood is so full of energy it's more Energy than Blood so he glows or steams from his cuts, not bleeds", but.... "He doesn't bleed because he's invincible"? There's such a schoolyard argument... 1 Replie(s)

This was always one of the weirdest matches. The real Sun Wukong dog walks the entire Dragonball verse, but here Tien just no-sells him with no difficulty. Wukong clones have full power while Tiens split his power, and that's not even getting into how he only loses to gods and even becomes one himself. 1 Replie(s)

Quick, queue up the next three interruption chapters detailing how the z fighters lost to an alternate universe Bojack followed by A prequel special about how XXI got his moustache! It's almost like this comic about a tournament is about to get to the actual tournament!

Okay so- I registered to make this comment and I legitimately have to ask. What was the point of all that? What did that add to the narrative? Why waste this much time on another extended what-if segment?

On top of that- this chapter KEEPS showing exactly everything wrong with power levels and the comics fascination with people being "unstoppably more powerful because the numbers say so" and ignore tons and tons of actual issues and writing problems.

Like, for first, why does everyone assume that no matter what level of multiplier Raditz gets, he'll ALWAYS be a jobber? If you want to go off power levels, he has a higher power level than his brother and nobody acts surprised that Goku can reach (insert level of strength here), why wouldn't Raditz? Vegeta can, so can any Saiyan. The entire point of the high class low class powerlevel-always-determines-your-abilities thing was to show how wrong it was to purely scale power off of numbers.

What even IS the main plot anymore? Where is any of this going? It feels like you're stalling for time but to what end? Can't we just keep going with the main story already? An entire SERIES of dragon ball started, ran, and ended in the time of this giant tournament arc, and with Daimo coming it looks like a second one might to. You can't just keep a story chugging FOREVER and expect it to retain quality. 1 Replie(s)
