Statement of Intent
(or how the author justifies his project by telling his life)
Hello everyone!

The story that follows is a crossover project between two universes: that of Spirou (largely created with André Franquin, who added his hero Gomer Goof) and that of Dragon Ball (created by Akira Toriyama). Behind this whimsical idea of mixing these two universes lies, above all, a desire to bring Franco-Belgian comics and manga closer together.
On one hand, for the sake of drawing practice (being a fan of pen and ink, combining these two graphic styles is quite educational). On the other hand, to show that these two genres of comics can "communicate" with each other. Let me explain:

When I go to comic book festivals, I notice that manga and Franco-Belgian comics are always in two rather separate, distinct spaces. This is just my personal opinion, of course, but when I go into the Franco-Belgian comics scene, the "target audience" seems to have a rather strong opinion about manga, influenced by some clichés already circulating in the 90s. Although manga is more recognized these days, it's largely thanks to the youth of that same era who established it in France. But even among young people, there seems to be a lack of interest in Franco-Belgian comics (for similar reasons, incidentally). My goal isn't to change people's mindsets, but if you're reading this knowing only one of the two worlds, I hope these chapters will spark your curiosity to discover the other. There you have it.

And, as mentioned earlier, the pages were drawn with India ink and pen (with a few touch-ups, of course). This is primarily a personal drawing exercise, which I'll try to do monthly (one chapter per month), while also working on other things (feel free to check out my Instagram, gauvain_s, for more). Think of this as a spin-off (so not canon...yeah) that takes place after chapter 69 (volume 6) of Dragon Ball and somewhere after volume 19 of Spirou. I've made sure everyone can understand it without having read everything. Let me know what you think, and enjoy!
