Buu was already sent back in 2068 & 2069 and finished trying to solo the arena. That was the whole "him disappearing and needing a year before figuring out to go back oh wait I left uub..." moment.

So during this training Buu wasn't facing off against the other universe, that had already occurred.

That was actually him getting sucked into the majin cocoon by Xii. So now they've just made it to the point where he is fighting everyone else back in the arena so we'll see him vanish pretty soon.

I keep saying that the shield is the best thing they have, even better than carbonite. With pure technology, they managed to create a shield that's so stupidly strong that it easily stops a SSJ2, who was also boosted by Babidi and is fusion born. I also said that all of them combined might be too much, even for Buu, unless their energy runs out... Seems like he is actually gonna be able to go through, but they propably gave him the best run for his Zeni out of all of them :)
