Most parents have that attitude when dealing with their children and when trying to punish them, hell I think Beerus would do that if Goku ever transformed after getting hit. I think it's easy to forget what the character interactions are when in a dragonball story.

I don't think this relates to Vegetto's entitlement much at all. I interpreted it something like this:
"After surrendering your sanity and soul to a paltry magician’s tactics the likes of which even Cell resisted, you dare? After murdering your family and friends with unprecedented cruelty and savagery, you dare? After confessing - in a bout of evil-induced honesty - to despise those weaker than you for needing protection, you dare? After discarding your moral compass in exchange for a shortcut to self-control, you dare? After everything you’ve said, everything you’ve done – you dare think yourself worthy of acting in self-defence!?”

The transformation might have been instinctual and unintentional on his daughter's part, but given the mental state he's in - and comprehensibly so, considering the events that have just transpired and to which he's been witness - it's understandable that he's acting on impulse and thinking in absolutes, and thus reading what could be a knee-jerk reaction as an ill-intentioned gesture of defiance.

Bra knows how Cell works (she has heard about it and she has seen it on the tournament many times).

Gohan going wild and finally throwing a gigantic ¿Masenko? to Cell was easily the most noticeable thing that happened on that place.

First, she's most likely been told stories involving Cell in the past which, if detailed, must've described the workings of his nucleus and his eventual defeat. Bra used a blast that was, given her vast advantage in power, very much overkill against a fighter of Cell's caliber (in comparison to the one that killed him way back when). She shouldn't, therefore, have had any inclination to look for the nucleus if she went solely by the anecdotes she was told.

Secondly, it hasn't been shown what exactly went on with her before she came to Babidi's rescue. It would even appear as if the wizard didn't expect her to show up. She could've been kept dormant by a doubtful Babidi who didn't know whether the majinization was a risk he wanted to take until he ran out of options; or she - much like you imply - could've been kept behind the curtains, watching the act unfold, because the wizard has a liking for suspense and wanted to lull the heroes into thinking they had bested him.

I find that last proposition to be the least likely, but even if we take it as fact, she should still be clueless as to how exactly our bugman survived, given that not even Babidi himself (who was in 'control' of Cell and should therefore be the most percipient to his tricks) caught wind of his ruse.

She might as well not know the details of the events that transpired before her appearance on the stage, and so, might've concluded that Cell and company were colluding from the start to catch her off guard, which they very much did.

I find it very implausible that she would look for a surviving nucleus with such certainty and determination, as if she were completely, unequivocally certain that she'd find it. 1 Odpowiedzi

I was just theorizing about something that's as unlikely as it is contrived: what if the Junior managed to chomp down on the Senzu bean mid-blast - giving his body enough resistance to avoid total obliteration - and what Bra thinks was Cell's nucleus was actually the calcinated remains of his son?

Why yes, how did you notice I'm just reaching?

How did she know to look for the nucleus after obliterating him? Shouldn't she assume he'd be dead after a blast like that, much like he was after Gohan's kamehameha on Earth, some thirty years ago?

I truly do hope it's the Junior's nucleus like some others have said, because otherwise, I'm mightily incensed.

Edit: I'm dumb. If that had been Jr.'s nucleus, it would've been microscopic. Unless Cell pulls a Deus Ex Machina out of his derrière, he's as good as a tiger under water: dead. Tot. Mort. 1 Odpowiedzi

Oh brat, I hope Piccolo's last words foreshadow your doom - brought upon you by the use of magic beans. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

After all the remorseless carnage inflicted upon his loved ones, I expect Gohan to be biblically incensed; there's no anger like the grief-brought one.

To fight as one is the heroes' only option, no matter what history they may share. The half-saiyan will have to momentarily cast away all resentment towards his most hated opponent in order to quell his half-sister's path of destruction.

I was always one of those who opposed the idea of Kasperbot's immortality not from dismissal of the hints, but out of distaste for the character (in a non-meta way, unlike the general displeasure at U16!Bra). After reading past chapters several times, and examining the clues, I personally started to warm up to the prospect, even if reluctantly so.
Kudos to those who, despite all the opposition, vehemently defended the immortality theory. This page is an ode to your determination.

And to supplement the discussion, here's a quote from one of OUV's posts on the forum:
At the very beginning of DBM, Kakarotto wasn't supposed to be immortal.
Because the special chapters weren't even supposed to exist in the first place, the whole story of the U13 was simply that Kakarotto baby didn't hurt his head and joined the evil Saiyans, and Vegeta killed freezer by becoming SSJ on Namek.
That was it.

Of course the creation of many specials changed that and after a few years it was time for Salagir to write the details of every alternate Universes, especially the U13.
To be honest the reason why Salagir felt that Kakarotto should be immortal was that Vegeta would never tolerate such an idiot more than five minutes before killing him !

We all agreed.
But that brought us to the next problem : what does immortality means in DBM ?
To us it was kind of moving from a problem to another.
But we found the right angle to it (which I won't spoil here). And with it we realised that it would not only make Kakarotto's survival til the tournament realistic but it would also allow for way more interesting U13 special chapters !

Kakarottos immortality was then integrated in the main plot and the U13 specials that I soon would start drawing (helios invasion and destruction).

And on the subject of the forum: if you want high-quality discourse, ̶b̶l̶a̶c̶k̶j̶a̶c̶k̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶h̶o̶o̶k̶e̶r̶s, go there - I'm sure you'll be welcome!

I, in light of this page, would like to point out how much of a stand-up guy Cell is.

Sure, he may have his own ulterior motives and sinister machinations, but right now, he's getting beat up and disemboweled of his own accord.
He could've chosen to be quiet and stay on the winning side. Had he just feigned death for longer, the heroes would be dead. Had he teamed up with Son Bra, the heroes would be cosmic ash - deader than dead. He could've swallowed his pride, not listened to his internal voice, and (as far as he knows) just kept being Babidi's lackey, living a life of conquest and destruction. He could've even rid himself of Bra by taking her off guard and swiftly dispatching her, later on. But that's just not the kind of cicada he is. This guy, against all odds, decides he's going to fancy his chances, punch his ticket, and tell the brat "Come at me if you're feeling tough" despite knowing that he's much, much weaker than her. It doesn't just take resolve to go one on one against an opponent that makes your strongest blows look like an infant's love taps in comparison - it takes balls, and apparently, Cell has those in spades.
He put his big-boy pants on and made his choice. Now, he's standing his ground, and facing the music.

He might not be the hero we deserve, but he's the one we needed, and he sure as hell has my respect for not going down the easy route and exterminating the good guys.

Cell has suffered the least out of all the defenders, and seems to be the only one up to this point who has had both the courage and the resilience to spar one on one with Bra. Nothing good can last forever, however, and I think his luck and charm have begun to run out.
I'm afraid you can't win a fight against a vastly stronger foe with just charisma and good intentions, Cell.

This might be where it all starts going downhill for our heroes: if Cell dies or is otherwise incapacitated, the placeholder Z fighters are in for a bad time.

The authors don’t give a dam about your “calcs” so neither should we.

It's possible for a martial arts-centered show to also have elements of science fiction. And by the end of the Buu saga, Dragon Ball was more about transformations, fusions, absorptions and energy blasts than about fighting moves. In fact, not much thought seemed to be given to the moves themselves, as oftentimes they extended to not much more than generic punches with a few kicks added in to create the illusion of variety. Dragon Ball might've been, strictly, a Martial Arts manga at first, but started to gain more and more sci-fi traits as it delved into the Saiyan arc and beyond.

Secondly, we should not base the direction of our discourse on the basis of whether or not the authors of a certain work care about the subject being discussed. Any opinion they might have about our discussion is as relevant to the latter as the latter is to their writing.

Oh, absolutely. Dragon Ball has always put Rule of Cool and practicality over realism and consistency. However, even though I think 90% of all discussions that have stemmed from this series come from Toribot's laxness when writing, and that most inconsistencies could be explained with "Well, the author just forgot that's how that worked", I prefer to strive for an in-universe explanation (as do most fans).

It's why, after Cell's post-loss-of-capita regeneration, we concluded that he can move his nucleus, even though the most likely explanation is that Toriyama simply forgot how the bio-android's healing worked.
Despite the latter proposition's probability, it is still what happened in-universe, and is therefore canon, because it happened in the manga. The reason why it's on the paper does not matter; the fact that it is on the paper does.

The same concept applies to Cooler's trip to ye olde Sol. While I concur with you that they most likely went for the practical instead of the realistic, and that they possibly didn't even consider that their interpretation of the storyboard depicted the attack as being FTL, it still is what happened on-screen, and in the case that concerns us, it is still what happened on the special's page. It even tells us that we "already know how this fight ends" implying that scene happened exactly as in the movie.

While I don't want to barge in and cause a ruckus all anew, I would like to say that in my humble opinion, you're either not quite understanding what Xeno is trying to convey, or you're not understanding what the page itself is saying. Maybe a re-read of previous comments to better process eachother's thoughts?
All in good faith, of course.

And regarding my opinion on the subject, I agree with VoidSlayer, sort of. I think the author can decide, with total liberty, what effects (if any) going faster than light have on reality.

While I tend to agree with a former commentator's approach, which more or less went along the lines of "let's assume X has a plausible explanation that obeys all laws of Y, until such time as it has proven itself to break them all" we have reiterated examples of them going FTL, and so, while in reality that should not be possible for a physical object to achieve, it may simply be that that's not how it works in the DB universe, and that it is plausible for a being with high enough power to go faster than the fastest thing. How would that work, biologically? I have no idea. Your brain would need to process infortmation faster than the speed of light, for starters, as would your eyes. Goku would be able to solve any logical problem in less than a second, which'd be ridiculous.
But hey! Rule of Cool. Don't think about it too much.

Lest we forget that Super Saiyan Gotenks was able to fly around the Earth "a few dozen times" in the span of 29 minutes (or possibly even less, if we are to believe he did in fact take a nap). I'm no mathematician, but I wager that's quite significant.

Additionally, Goku was able to push Kooler to the Sun in a matter of seconds. Compare that to the eight minutes it takes light from the Sun to reach us here on Earth, and as early as the beginning of the Android Saga, our Super Saiyan friend laughed at light's puny velocity.

Other than that, I'm hoping to see the cover's depiction of Cell become a reality. The prospect of him using the Kikoho (and perhaps even the Final Flash) that makes me giddy with excitement. It's as if he got so impressed by those weaker warriors' ability to conjure techniques that could put him on the spot despite the vast difference in power, that he just couldn't go on without at least attempting to replicate them. I'd just make the irises dark dark grey in base form, so it absolutely is a stylistic choice (I got many people who would say they liked it and none who said 'but this makes no sense'), especially given that Super Saiyan 3 gives Goku CLEARLY defined pupils, so we know Saiyans have irises and pupils.I don't do it anymore because I'm aiming to more closely emulate the OG works, but a stylistic choice it is for certain.

I don't understand what either of you are trying to say. Yes: I, with a pencil in hand, could draw Goku to have a third arm and it would be a stylistic choice. Good.
Now, I have absolutely no idea how this relates to Moth's reply, which said that my pointing-out of the artist's failure to emulate a canonical detail was simply me enforcing my 'headcanon.'

Yes, it's a stylistic choice. It's also canonically incorrect and inconsistent: the former because Frost Demons simply have never had pupils, ever, and the latter because they, the artist themselves, drew them without pupils until the very moment where Kold's singular eye was showcased.

Looking at this, if I were extremely detail-oriented, I could say that that isn't Kold, because his eyes lack pupils, and later, after being proven wrong in my assesment, would be absolutely right in pointing out that we'd just witnessed an inconsistency in the story.

The point isn't that it can't be done: it's just that it is factually, in comparison with the Dragon Ball Bible (the manga itself) incorrect. The severity of this mistake (intentional or not, that's meaningless) depends entirely on who you ask. Maybe you didn't notice it at first, or maybe you did but don't really care about Arcosians or, more specifically, if they're drawn with irises or not. I did notice, and I do like Arcosians; so when I saw that little eccentricity, I playfully pointed it out in my comment, as a little addendum.

Had I known it would gain such traction and jingle the bells of the two of you, I would probably have explained it in more detail - if not outright omitted it.

I think most would agree that it's an anatomy thing, not an art style thing. It's something that's well-defined in canon. By your standards, one could say that a Super Saiyan's hair color is not set in stone, but is merely headcanon, and subject to change.

There's a reason why Asura, Gogeta Jr. and most artists on DBM draw Piccolo with four fingers: not because they're particularly fond of tetradactylous characters (I assume) but because it's how he was portrayed in the manga, and they're trying (for the most part) to keep DBM as canon-compliant as possible, with a few surgical changes here and there, since it's advertised as a fanmade continuation of canon.

In any case, it was a minor nitpick, a minuscule criticism. I actually am quite surprised that was the specific part that you decided to reply to from the whole comment, but what can I say: I'm a servant of the people, so if you ask, I will answer.

How is that headcanon? There is a clear distinction, in the manga and the anime, between those that do and do not have pupils.
Members of Frieza's race don't have pupils, pure-blooded Saiyans don't (or if they do, their irises are naturally much darker, making the pupil harder to set apart), Cell's last two forms do, Super Buu and Kid Buu do, and Trunks has pupils when he's in his base form, but doesn't have them once he transforms.

— He let Frieza transform, leading to the deaths of Dende, Krillin and himself.

— He let Cell absorb 18, leading to the deaths of his son, Goku, King Kai, Bubbles, and that filler cricket whose name I can't remember.

— He let Babidi majinize him, delaying any progress towards stopping the wizard, and contributing energy to Majin Buu's cocoon, thus leading to the deaths of his wife, his son, his parents in law, Gohan, Goten, Chi Chi, Krillin, Tenshinhan, Chiaotzu, Piccolo, all humans on Earth except for Mister Satan, and himself.

This is a first for Vegeta: he finally killed his opponent when it would've have been a pivotally disastrous decision to do otherwise.

No sé.

Pero ojo y cuidado: este especial es uno de los mejorcillos en un buen tiempo y si Dragon Ball siempre hubiera ido por el camino de la lógica y la consistencia, no tendríamos historia. 1 Odpowiedzi

Número Treinta 3 Listopada 2019
Ah, of course! I do, too, remember that time Raditz went Super Saiyan two, and Piccolo managed to kill him with the makankosappo, while being a hundred times weaker than him!

Jokes aside, this isn't too bad. At least we didn't get rage boosts or mid-battle zenkais. It's a nice plot device to have the overconfident big bad be taken out by weaker yet more organized good guys.

Also, I think it's a universally satisfying thing to see Piccolo kick ass, no matter the circumstances. You go, Big Green!
