Kenshin1984 was saying: It is correct in that Goku and Vegeta at this stage in the game should not be weaker than Gohan (they should be much stronger since they keep up with their training vs these versions of Gohan, who maintain their power training here and there).

Why? Basically everything points towards the opposite.

Let's ignore the fact that Goku is 50 and Vegy 60 and that training forever shouldn't mean improving forever cause saiyans and ki ain't humans and... normal things? But even ignoring that, Vegeta and Goku's potential has always been stated AND shown as being inferior to Gohan's. If we assume everyone reaches their zenith (wip official name of this form btw lol), Gohan should be the strongest of the 3. Incidentally, that's what happened to Gohan. A wizard showed up and said "now you're at your max, oh and even beyond that cause maaaagiiiiic". And arguably that's what's happening here with these 2 since they're trying to emulate Gohan's power. So now we found ourselves in a situation were Zenith Goku, Zenith Vegeta and Zenith Gohan exist and Gohan went "beyond that" cause "maaaaagiiiiic", so Mystic Gohan > Zenith Gohan > Zenith Goku > Zenith Vegeta > Almost Zenith Goku > Almost Zenith Vegeta.

But even if for whatever reason we assumed otherwise, why SHOULD Goku or Vegeta improve so much? As a reminder, it's "only" been 10 years. Vegeta needed 9 years to go from SSJ to "maybe a bit stronger than SSJ2 kid Gohan", while Gohan needed 6 months from SSJ to SSJ2, and that's assuming he was SSJ2 before the majin. And Goku was the same but with a just recently discovered SSJ3 form that doesn't even work if you're not dead. It's obvious both are implied to have reached some sort of limit there (notably Vegeta) and THEN in DBM we're shown that a few years after that (Pan was around 5 so 6 years later?) Vegeta still doesn't SSJ3 and Goku still didn't fix SSJ3, aka they barely improved in 6 years ONCE AGAIN.

Why would they suddenly surpass Gohan in 4 years? Even with the focus shift from "higher ssj" to "let's gohan", I would think it's pretty nonsensical if they actually were stronger than him now. Or ever, really, without some kind of heavy shift in the concept of ki itself, like divine ki in dbs.

I'd like to give my thoughts on this.

First, let's talk about how power works in DB.
From the way I interprete it, a fighter's power output comes from his "physical base" and "ki reserves" (which build up through training) and "efficiency output" (how much of the ki reserve can be accessed, this can be affected by various factors like health and mental states). And there are super saiyan transformations, which by the logic of DBM, allow the saiyans to access the ki reserves much more effectively than the base form (meaning Goku has a ki reserve of a ss3, but his body needed to transform in order to access it). And the multipliers of each transformation, from my understanding of said logic, means how much of the ki reserve that transformation can access, and there is no fixed multiplier in contrast to the normal estimations (x50,x100,x400).

Now, let's talk about Goku and Vegeta.
Regarding your point about Vegeta having trained his body to the maximum before Buu saga, we know this info because Vegeta himself said it. But that was just his subjective opinion, not necessarily the truth. For all we know, Vegeta might even have been building his body wrong that whole time, as in the muscle group proportions he trained may not have been ideal for his fighting style at all (evidently in real life we know different martial arts require different body types). And how would Vegeta had known if he was doing wrong? He trained alone all his life, unlike Goku who had different teachers guiding him, pointing out his mistakes when needed be. Vegeta's ineffective training (too much emphasis on building muscles and power while neglecting rest and peace of mind) compared to Goku had been brought up during Cell saga, and we don't know how much his training routine improve during the 7 years gap, if at all.
Post Buu saga Vegeta abandoned his unhealthy obsessions, which might have been putting a block on his own efficiency output, and gained a training partner he respects, and through sparring with Goku, now without a blinding ego, he could see more clearly how he can improve (more accurate muscle building, breathing techniques, footings, more effective power generation from ss2, etc), and his learning curve improved drastically. The same goes with Goku as well (I imagine a living body might be trained a little differently from an afterlife body, and observing a fellow saiyans does more than just learning from theory taught by non-saiyans like King Kai). And that is how having a proper training partner helped them improve more quickly than before.

Now let's talk about Gohan.
What the Old Kai did to Gohan, was allowing him to gain access to all of his ki reserves (which enhances muscles and senses) while magically removing the need for any transformation (which is normally required to access this ki reserve). What the Old Kai DIDN'T do to him, however, is giving him the ability to utilise that ki efficiently (in the novel when Cell killed the Videls (and seemingly the Piccolos) during the Majin rebellion, Gohan used a large amount of reserved ki which he never even knew existed within him), and stopping ki from leaking out of his body (when Gohan powered up, everyone can sense it, even from afar like Super Buu did).

What I'm going with this, is that IF Gohan learned how to keep that unfairly huge amount of ki inside his pants, I mean inside his body like Goku and Vegeta are doing, he would undoubtly remain the strongest in U18, but that is not the case. Depending on the writing (I'm still seething that they haven't given out more inputs), Goku's and Vegeta's 100% contained power output might be on par with Gohan's 80-90% contained power output. And in a real fight between them, you can just see from Gohan failing to catch the potara earring thrown by base Goku to know how much fighting relying on Ki sensing had dulled other senses (I know it was just a trolling on Toriyama's part, but still) and that Gohan would now do jack sh*t to these two even if he is stronger power-wise (the state they are in should realistically give opponents of 0.5 tier above them trouble in my opinion). 1 תגובה/תגובות

[quote from="kaybag" id=219376]last two frames don't really add anything. We know the fight lasts 1 second tops so filling out a page with a dripping cup is just pointless.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you. They are dwelling too much in their "clever" idea. We already know these two are fast, no point in stressing it further, especially when their speeds are not even THAT impressive as Gohan and BASE Bra (Perfect Cell tier) can still follow and thus be able to adjust to them in an actual fight.

What I'd rather see is that these two skip over the foreplay (normal hand to hand combat is redundant this late into the tournament, we have that in Goku vs Uub already) and start using new techniques they developed over the past 20 years (Veggie has a spirit bomb-like ki blast in the novelized fight again Kakarot, Goku is good at stealing techniques, make him use the jelly kagebushin or the ki handblade or at least SOMETHING).

The art is godly but it has been two weeks since the pages showed us any new information regarding their skills and power scaling. 1 תגובה/תגובות

Dr. Alan Grant ver.2 אמר/ה :
Hello Operator was saying:
My money; however, is on we will NOT get a winner in this fight. Not in the traditional sense. Vegeta is going to get up for round two and the fight will be interrupted, likely by Vegetto.

Goku v. Vegeta is an age old question that I doubt will be answered in the next few pages.

Yeah I'm taking that bet lmao. I don't think they'd interrupt their fight again as that would too closely mirror the Majin Vegeta arc, and I don't think Vegito is going to snap about this or at this point in general, I think it'd be very bad writing if he did and kind of come out of nowhere.

On the contrary, I believe this is the perfect opportuny for Vegetto to "snap", as in after the match he will demand to have a fight these two (fused, otherwise he would swat them like flies). He would never have a chance to have that kind of fight in his own universe (Bra may unlock ss3 someday, but Goku's and Vegeta's new state offers a much more interesting/strategic challenge - Ki can't be sensed, no burnout). I don't see him desiring/needing anything else in this comic.

And when they decline (for the reason that they prefer to fight him one on one), Vegetto kills U18 Gohan (and probably Gast to avoid magic interuption) then threatens to kill the rest until they cave in (the latest novelized chapter revealed that Vegetto considered threatening Pan's life in order to urge Gohan to fight him with full power). U16 Bra's comment "Nobody can stop my father, and definitely not you two" can be interpreted as her saying "Just give him what he wants and fuse already".
