I dont dislike this chapter but its very messy.I never understood the senzu crisis. There is no reason the Varga couldn’t pop into a new universe and get a buttload of Senzu a long time ago. They’re stupidly accommodating and it’s probably a good idea to keep the self appointed security/WMD healthy.

Vegito of all people should not be bringing up the mf rules right now. If XXI is a dangerous sorcerer, LIKE BUU, very possible that wont matter and the birds will fail to stop the threat…again. The characters are all really motivated to get a move on with the plot. Just laying back and ignoring the dire warnings that the evil sourcerer that defeated Vegito, Gast, and Buu (nobody saw that) actually wants to consume the multiverse. Casually. Gast literally lost because XXI was going to eat him and he forfeited. Honestly, idk why Janemba was even there. From their fight, Gast had no options once trapped. Why do the Organizers and Kai’s treat the rules like they don’t make and enforce them? Spectators and participants definitely have to, but the Organizers…don’t. There is no negotiating, or retaliation, or unionizing here. (Almost) Everyone at the tournament is there by invitation of U1 and at their mercy. If the Vargas disqualify someone for being ugly, the only act of defiance is not participating. I get they wouldn’t do that bc they’re nice guys, but they’re also supposed to be smart. Allowing an evil being with insane power to participate is questionable decision even BEFORE the tournament started. After multiple disruptions, most of which threatened the lives of every person there, as well as the multiverse itself, I am here to say that the only possible way North Kai waves off Old Kai’s warning that there is yet another fighter there with ill intent, and it’s the same fighter who beat Vegito, Buu, and Gast, is if he has advanced dementia.

edit: It’s February 2025. So much has happened. I can’t believe this fight was over 3 years ago. I wanted to do a quick reread to give this chapter another chance since I was so disappointed the first time around.

LOL It’s worse than I remember. And It’s not just the art style, which, not to disparage the artist to hard as they worked very hard on this and have likely improved significantly since then, looks really bad. Bad paneling, bad poses, bad choreography, goofy expressions etc. There were a few decent panels but mostly it looked like something you’d find scrolling Deviantart, not the quality I expect from this (FREE) series. I would have traded the next 4 chapters looking like this if Asura had just done the fight instead. I get why he wouldn’t want to but…damn.

But if there was one thing that could have saved the fight, it would have been some stellar writing. Lo and behold it’s some of the worst. The dialogue is boring, the power scaling is absolutely fucked, like worse than Super. Not only are both Cell and Vegeta out of character compared to the OG’s, they are out of character for THIS COMIC. Cell is holding back significantly for what reason? He no longer needs to hide how powerful he is from the other fighters because Buu showed everyone exactly what his level is. He also wants to push Vegeta into using his full power AFTER burning all of his energy on nonsense attacks? Completely unserious until he’s drained of his energy. Who tf knows how the novelization will explain this away. And then there’s Vegeta, who won this fight by being the lamest corniest mf in all of dragon ball history. “Hey look over there” Sucker punch is for Bugs Bunny not Vegeta. It’s such a Cui thing to do AND IT WORKED which makes it so much worse. More than that, there was the opportunity for Vegeta to be very clever with how he fought Cell and dealt with the power difference. Instead they both b.s the entire fight until Vegeta decides to end it. Makes Cell look stupid and Vegeta look ***boring***. Turning some of the coldest characters ever into the lamest is true talent. And I didn’t even mind Bra using Senzu against Cold.

This was my most anticipated fight of the tournament and it turned out to be genuinely awful. I hope at some point when this comic ends they go back and redo it.

I have always believed this as well. It’s most likely that Trunks and probably Gohan just never got the full story because no one was alive to tell it (and bc King Kai is a giant dick in the future for some reason)

I’ve held off long enough. This was a complete waste of time and characters. No hate to the artist, but the only thing that could have saved this was Asura’s art. This was poorly writing characters out of a story. The excuse of this being FREE and for FUN, which gets said every time this comic has a substantial dip in quality, does not make it immune to criticism. You are not just making this comic to read in your room. You put it out in the Internet for DB fans to consume, and here we are. This was bad writing, even if it is a vision. And for some reason, probably making a major plot point look and feel like filler, I’m pissed about Cell vs Vegeta again. 4/10 would read this chapter again.

My disappointment about the art fades with each page. Very strong page here. Cell certainly has gotten a lot from Buu. Hoping we see some solid badassery from Cell before Vegeta pulls out whatever broken technique he’s got stashed away.

1. I think it's pretty much established that the abilities you gain from Majinization stay after you've broken free. Ex: Vegeta retaining the ability to go SSJ2. Bra has never been able to maintain SSJ2 without losing control, until after she was Majinized.

2. Because it's established that U16 Bra was not able to control SSJ2, but is doing so currently.

3. U18 Bra is indeed acting very different and I feel as though it's one of those things that will be "explained" in the novel because they didn't want to waste a panel on it. Still a valid criticism. I'll say, "broke free on her own", is either a massive stretch or weak play on words. U18 Bra's words brought out Bra's humanity which gave U16 Bra the chance to break free. It was a joint effort 100%.

4. It is murder. Especially from the POV of someone like Gast. It's also brash. There are plenty of avenues to go down before immediate rage execution for the good of the universe 10 seconds after finding out what happened. Also, she was mind controlled?? His promise to kill her if she didn't control herself doesn't even apply here. She's obviously not evil. If she didn't have super powers, she'd be a bully or a brat, but not an immoral killer. Her negative personality traits leaving her vulnerable to mind control isn't a good enough reason to rush to execution. By that logic, all of them are a danger to the universe in the event of a better magician or a body snatcher appearing. Moreover, while it's just super noble, I think having a moments hesitation over choosing between family or the universe is reasonable. Vegito's reasoning makes a cold, logical sense. But that doesn't make it correct, reasonable, or applicable in this circumstance. He is wrong in this situation 100% and can't see that because of his own rage, complex, and standards.

5. Yeah, because she's his daughter. Vegito is basically God. In his mind, there's no way his daughter could be Majinized unless it was by choice, which is both an example of his expectations for Bra and him thinking lowly of her.

In conclusion: Bra dumb. Vegito dumb. Just for different reasons. And mind control gives you a pass on accountability.

I always just assumed the the Majin boost was permanent. No reason why it shouldn't be. And it explains why Cell bothered to let himself be taken over at all.

Not really feeling the Carbonite theory. I do think that piece of armor in the bottom left corner of the last panel is about to blow something fierce.

During the Cell Games, Vegeta attacked Cell from behind to give Gohan a chance to kill him. He before that was also saying that group attacking was "spitting on saiyan heritage".

He both attacked from behind and attacked in a group because pride goes right out the window when your back is up against the wall. In a situation where the only way to survive to is to eat a senzu, Vegeta would do it. When your life is on the line you usually do what you have to to survive., or at the very least get what you want. Bra's definition of pride is very different from Vegeta's but not absent.

Vegeta's is that no matter what he can and will overcome any obstacle without taking shortcuts because that's the way it's done. Bra's is that she can and will overcome any obstacle because she's naturally strong enough and "clever" enough to pull it off.

Vegeta's definition of pride is not universal, otherwise no one except Vegeta has any pride.

God DAMN IT.

I guess at least we were right about his nucleus surviving, unfortunately Bra is fucking unstoppable. And everyone stood around dicks in hand while their best chance to survive dies twice.
At this point the only satisfying conclusion will be if Vegito comes back and beat her ass. Or Raditz I guess. I've finally grown tired of this arc as the best ways to kill Bra dwindle to nothing.


One thing, I have absolutely no idea how Buu is going to convince everyone to keep the tournament going. This would have been the third time the tournament has spun out of control with the Vargas' safety measures being absolutely worthless. Both Gohans should be adamant about ending the tournament. The gods as well. Even supreme Kai has to have realized that Buu's behavior here is proof that he's too dangerous to trust. Goku, Vegeta, Gast, and Cell will be the only ones to fight for the continuance of the tournament. I just want to see Vegeta and Cell duke it out :(

Oh for fucks sake.

If there was any point to Cell's "wide attack" line he will survive this. Would also give a thematic conclusion to their little rivalry in the novel.

If Cell is indeed dead, the number of people who could actually defeat Bra logically and thematically grows smaller.

Gohan - Low on power and kill options so not likely.

Buu - Far too weak, would lead to some narrative fuckery if he successfully absorbed her.

Phipsil - Likely low on power and no reason for her to get the kill. (Could grab more power packs though for the assist*)

Supreme Kai - Useless

Zen Buu - ?

U9 - Too weak to even touch her honestly, unless Bra is forced to use an excessive amount of power soon and Bardocks vision of Yamcha applies here.

Raditz - If the ritual is over

XXI - ?

In all likelihood, Cell is alive and will get a boost allowing him to close the gap.

Au contraire, I think Buu is trying to drag this out even more. He could just let Babidi die of asphyxiation and not get involved at all. Buu either is going to save him until he's had his fill, or force him to die in a more spectacular way. But he's certainly not bored as of yet.

Don't forget guys, Babidi is the goal. He only had 10 minutes of oxygen. That being said, pretty sure him asphyxiating is a red herring as it wouldn't be very cinematic for the conclusion of this arc. More than likely Cell is going to attempt to find Babidi and end him as he's the only one with IT.
