But since this is called Last Son as in the Son family and Chi Chi is now a Son I suspect Nasu going Super Saiyan here after Vegeta kills her.

Oh wow, I didn't even spot that. This form takes 60 seconds to enter. It's even worse than I thought. You can only reliably use this form in a tournament; it's too difficult to use in a real fight. It even takes longer to enter than performing the fusion dance!

What exactly was the 'Doylist' reason for giving this form such a crippling drawback? Salagir could have made this form accessible in an instant, why didn't he?

Beating Goku by ambushing him before either of them can transform to their best state wouldn't give him any chance to push himself against an equal opponent

The only reason he would ever decide to just try to blitz Goku like that is if he spontaneously decided winning a random tournament (with a prize of dragonballs, that nobody from their universe needs) is more important than improving himself against his longtime rival.
You can't just try to insult the writer for not removing all motivation and nuance from these characters and turning them into emotionless sacks of meat with ki every time they step into the arena (Which is where a LOT of critique comes from in the comments I see, especially when it comes to out-of-arena interactions)

So they are canon in the DBM comic after all. Makes sense, there's already been a handful of scenes with them besides the infamous chapter 19 cover, but I wish DBM wouldn't flip-flop so much screentime when it comes to Bulma and Trunks of all people. They are canon, show up sporadically, but do nothing. It's so weird and not in a funny way. Because plainly it means that Bulma and Trunks have actually always been present, but for some reason do nothing. Would almost have been better if they had never been there. I know there was a mini-comic that plays it up in a funny way. Nonetheless, it's very disappointing that the only Bulma present in the DBM tournament does nothing (no interaction with anyone, no side-plot to emphasize that Bulma is indeed constantly maintaining Cyborg Yamcha, making her a key component why Yamcha is SSJ1+ Powerlevel Tier, etc). So blatant that she either misses everything because she's in the bathroom, or literally watches everything from the sidelines without comment. That was an incredibly sad and wasted potential of her character. This is why I always wished U9 Trunks and Bulma were DBM Novel Exclusives.

Honestly, I love how Raditz can actually use his brain to get around being weaker, he even created the contact lens that allows saiyans to reach great ape without the moon.

And something to remember, Old Kaioshin said that Raditz is BY FAR stronger than South, it's just only usable against evil. And he's not a little bit stronger, but MUCH stronger. And factually speaking, South IS one of the powerhouses in this tournament (the tippy top are a whole other league sure, but there's very few in that actual weight class, if they're S+, then he's become S- vs evil)

With this, Raditz has officially become universal level strength, he's a specialised weapon of good now (against his wishes hah), outside of super continuity there likely isn't a villain that can match him (he's more intelligent/cautious/cowardly than South to not fall for stuff like being absorbed maybe and even then his power matches kid Buu, and that what if WAS Old Kai cutting off the power-up early)

It'll be interesting how he will interact with the story, as long as the writers don't forget about him or what they've established, this could be really cool.

Then again, I've always been team Raditz, so I might be a bit biased, but going from what we've shown, Raditz should FINALLY BE A THREAT!

Yet, as we all know, their strength continued to rise again by magnitudes with the right opponents

It's not the quality of the training. It's the motivation and determination behind the training. Piccolo basically meditated for a year and jumped to 3000.

Let's not forget Master Roshi, who does no kind of special training, but decided to train because he saw how strong his students were becoming and this is after he's lived and trained for centuries. He's now able to wash Frieza Force Soldiers and participate in a tournament with the universe's strongest fighters.

This plan is far more reasonable than people think.

Remember, XXI isn't going to destroy a new universe overnight there will probably be millions of years of eating in just one universe. After all XXI has survived 75,000,000 years in his universe alone. So if one universe can make him survive say even 10,000,000 years then Vegeta and the others are likely safe for at least that long. The chances that after that he'd immediately go to Vegeta's Universe (The new one that is) is slim at best and by that time Vegeta (If he wishes for immortality) will likely be too strong to contend with.

Of course if he doesn't he'll be long dead.

Of course the more likely idea is that XXI will likely go through a HUGE amount of universes before Vegeta (And with a time period of 10s of millions of years EACH time) ---- Vegeta and the others have infinite amounts of time to get stronger or just move somewhere else.

I don't really understand the logic that every Earthling would be at the same level they were at in the main timeline.

What bench-marks for strength do they have? If the two strongest people you'd ever known were killed by a guy some two, to three times stronger than them, they'd be thinking along those metrics. Their ambitions would not to be to attain increases in power in terms of ten thousand, to twenty thousand times increases(If not more if you go by the main time-line powerscale). Such a feat would seem impossible to them.

More over, even if that was their ambition, how would they even know how? It was Goku's training with King Kai and his training under immense gravitational loads, that got him to 20'000(Not counting Kaioken) and the brutal zenkai boost that got him even further. It was Gohan and Krillin's potential being unlocked, their witnessing of Goku's increases in strength, and no doubt knowledge of training from Piccolo's new aspect in Nail.

Never mind that none of this has happened, or that none of them even know how strong Vegeta truly was at the time of Goku and Piccolo's death, let alone how strong Frieza is/could be.

The logic many commenters here are applying would conclude that Goku, who had been training for 18 years by the arrival of Raditz, should have had a power in the tens of millions. He did not. He had a power less than a thousand.

I would argue most of them are still below ten thousand.

We would also need to apply the logic of power increase to the Saiyans too. After all, Gohan has gone from pip-squeak levels to being brave enough to talk back to Vegeta. He must have seen massive increases in power. Considering Vegeta went from 6'200(Or more, if you want to be harsher with your sources) to 18'000 in twice the time, Gohan -- the half-breed son of a low class warrior -- getting anywhere close to even Raditz would be considered immensely impressive. Here he seems to be beyond his uncle. If Gohan was capable of this kind of growth, why not the other three? We know Vegeta trained as a child, and we know that in the show Vegeta prides himself on being the only one of Frieza's elite who actually fights tough battles. We also know, even with his power, he would never step in to rescue a subordinate on the cusp of death.

I think the Z-Fighters and the Saiyans would be pretty damn even, with the exception of going up against Vegeta. I'd roughly guess the Power levels are as follows,

Chiaotzu - 1,800

Krillin - 2,900

Raditz - 3,200(Generous here, but falling behind Gohan would logically have motivated him somewhat, he's also still harsh to Gohan and must fancy his power somewhat

Yamcha - 4,000(He's confident enough to turn his back on Raditz)

Nappa - 6,000(Likely not fighting seriously, probably closer to 9,000 going all out)

Tien - 5,500

Gohan - 5,000(Probably on Vegeta's level with a rage boost)

Well that escalated... Does XXI really not think he can simply beat Goku in the tournament and get his wish? I do not think it will be easy as Goku does not have any real weakness like the others he faced but still think he has a good chance of winning...

This does seem out of character for South Kai, I mean the Old Kai is weak physically but his magic is well up there. Even so I do not think he would kill his elder like that without hearing them out unless influenced... If they are really dead and Vegetto catches wind of this then it is all over for the tournament.

I know some say he took Elder Kai's potara but I think I can still see one on there. A U13 Vegito that is pseudo-immortal would be a problem even if he would be likely weaker than the U16 counterpart still...

So this timeline is the result of Beerus erasing Zamazu? It was a bit ambiguous when Whis explained it in Chapter 1. Still, I don't understand how erasing the Zamasu who would eventually become Goku Black can lead to a Goku Black existing in the future. My bet is that something else happened (in addition to Beerus erasing Zamasu) causing a Goku Black to still exist, and arrive earlier than in the original future.

This is tricky.

The Cell everyone fought in the main time line was a Cell from an alternate future reality. In that reality after returning from his training in the past Trunks was able to defeat android 17 and 18 in his SSJ form, and then was shortly afterwards killed by Cell. After Cell traveled back to the past he absorbed both Android 17 & 18 achieving his Perfect Form.

I believe Gero 'feed' this Cell two of his energy absorbing androids, who are far weaker then SSJ and also inferior to androids 17 and 18. I can't really see this Cell's power level being higher then maybe Android 16 at best.

However, that may open the opportunity that having absorbed energy absorbing androids into his biomass, perhaps Cell has aquired their ability to absrobed energy also.

To be fair i think a misconception is that they spent 2 full years in time chamber. If memory serves me correct post king piccolo battle kid goku could barely stay in time chamber for 1 month and all of goku friends at beginning of dbz series should be close that level or higher. So if they went in first time they should be able to stay in for only a few months at best and the second time maybe half a year of six months. So six months + 10 years would probably boost them 20 x stronger if just training for 1 year made them 10 x stronger with Kami. So they should be around 4000s while the saiyans don’t get much of an amp since they weren’t training but passively growing stronger through missions. Vegeta went from 10k to 18,000 from a kid as he said he was stronger than King Vegeta as a child. So a 1.8 increase. So at most I think saiyan would be 2 x themselevs with Vegeta being 36,000, nappa being 8,000, and raditz being 3,000. While Gohan is a level under vegeta yet nappa holds him in high regard so I think Gohan being above raditz but between Vegeta and nappa could make sense.

Don't forget they trained with Kami and Mr. Popo in the original. Kami has died along with Piccolo 10 years ago here. I don't think their trainning here was as effective.

To everyone asking how Gohan couldve possibly achieved ssj, are we just completely ignoring future Gohan, who literally had no one yet still achieved it? I am trying to remember any other interesting 1st round fights. I guess Yamcha vs C18 because Yamcha reveals that he is C17. And a lot of those fights have rather obvious outcomes.
Oh yeah! Dabura vs Cell is also one of my favorite fights from the first round. I also had a lot of fun to color most of the fight, even though Cell's spots are a real pain to color. Yet, it turned out amazing, as you will see later in chapter 5/6! :-D

Why do I feel like Buu absorbed Bee before he died and gained the instincts and intelligence of him. Being immortal (age wise) Buu would be unable to die and regeneration would keep him alive. Cruelty from humans over three hundred years likely led him to becoming feral.

In my first version, Mutaito called him "Muten" but I thought that it was better, he called him "Roshi", that is, for me, his name, not a title.

Predictions:

Despite what everyone's saying, I wouldn't be surprised if Goku and Vegeta are stronger than Gohan, if not close to being as strong as Bra or even Vegito.

We've watched Gohan fight Cell, everyone watching and involved was able to keep up.

We watched Bra fight everyone, everyone she fought was able to keep up enough to at least strategize against her.

Not to mention we saw Broly vs Vegito, also another fight where everyone watching was in shock but, like the others, still was able to at least keep up with.

Here we have Goku vs Vegeta and the only people who were able to follow are Gohan, Vegito, and Bra, and all of them are shocked. If this Goku and Vegeta had to fight everyone the same way Bra did, you can't tell me that based off of what we're getting here that they wouldn't be able to completely blitz and destroy everyone involved before they could react.

Goku and Vegeta are having a whole fight that Piccolo can't even keep up with. When Bra fought everyone, Piccolo was outclassed but he was at least able to follow along enough to formulate strategies and counter attack.

At the very least if Gohan was as strong as these guys, his fight with Cell would've had the same effect as this one since Cell is equal to or greater than Gohan. Had Cell and Gohan been as strong or stronger than Goku and Vegeta, their fight would've been just as difficult if not harder to follow than this one.

Based off of all of that, my thoughts are that this new form puts our two favorite Saiyans ahead of the Gohan's and in the ballparks of Vegito and Bra.

My second prediction is that Vegeta gets up for a round 2 with Goku and Vegeta only using the orignal Super Saiyan forms. Needless to say, I hope I'm right lol.

I hope this comic can retcon the movies one big mistake. Cell Max had no personality at all. All of DBZ's canon villains had great personalities.

I would rather they have not remade Cell and made something else, since he was a mindless monster.

Are we sure we just "skipped the fight"? The way Goku's clothes are torn seems a bit odd, but he might've hit Vegeta so hard that that's just what it did to him, maybe... If last page really skipped to the end of the fight it'd just be strange, I think. I wouldn't expect Salagir to do that, but who knows.
