Goku isn't even the kind of guy to hesitate and Toriyama has him go on the offensive frequently in the manga when other characters are posturing or calling out attack names. If Sal wanted to do this he shouldn't have had Goku say anything. Just bust out of the pocket dimension and immediately get got, people would have still been mad but at least it wouldn't look like Goku was hesitating when he should KNOW not to. Maybe he was hoping Xii would do something similar as he did Gast so he'd get a good fight? Test his mettle against Janemba and see if he can beat Xii in his little shadow shroud? That's the best defense I have for this.

I am not as upset about this as I was a lot of the Bra stuff, I actually took a several year hiatus from reading this webcomic when they flashed back to Vegito threatening to kill Bra the first time, without the context of what she did to make him that mad. It made it look like she was going to be entirely excused, I'm glad it was used more as a partial excuse and Vegito's rage in that situation made sense. Vegita is less a bad father for threatening her and more a bad father for letting her be a spoiled out of control brat and only taking notice AFTER she killed Goten is my interpretation.



It isn't that bad and it is free. Maybe if I was paying for it I'd consider it a sunk cost but I've got thirty seconds to check a page three times a week.

You are remembering half right. I won't spoil anything and no one else should, because like Drew said, this was GREAT.

Given Yamcha fought a saibaman weaker than this Raditz (who should have Zenkai'd at least a little from getting his ribs broken by Gohan and shoulder burnt up by Piccolo) to a draw demonstrates that the Earthlings ARE stronger than they were in the canon version of this fight. But still not so strong as to be able to stand up to Nappa 1v1.

Not what I expected, but I love what a silver tongued devil Raditz is.

Everyone keeps on about Kais being able to read minds, but in the main show the Supreme Kai didn't really do that otherwise he'd have known just how strong they are after seeing Cell get demolished by Gohan. Not to say they can't do it, but it might be taboo or seen as beneath them to connect with the mind of a lowly mortal.

Calling it now, Vegeta, Kakarot and Nappa are going to show up and stop South Kai from sending Raditz (and all of them) back home. Maybe even XXI himself will step in and try to recruit Raditz like he did the others now that South Kai has served his usefulness.

PS: South Kai isn't being that dumb, we have access to information he doesn't and XXI has been diligent in following the rules outside of trying to eat Gast when he thought no one could see or hear him surrender. XXI is very shady though, so you aren't wrong that he's being at least a little dumb. He isn't under direct mind control, but XXI might be using some kind magic to heighten his emotions. If you've ever been fatigued, had your blood sugar tank, been a little toasted on booze or a little stoned you know how easily those kind of things can affect your judgement when you're already upset about something. I think that's what is happening, XXI put an ear worm in there that is clouding his better judgement.

Yeah, there's a difference between Buu-han catching him off guard then turning him to candy and this. Honestly? I think XXI might be trying to befriend him 'earnestly'. Obviously to stab him in the back later, but I don't think this is going to be magical mind control. Just "let me show you I am actually a nice guy so if someone gets uppity with me help me out okay?" He's shown the propensity to be manipulative like that.

Had a huge blow out battle against Brolly, all of that excused by his huge caloric needs which was a classic weakness of Goku's in early Dragon Ball only now he needs multiple sensu beans to keep up his massive energy outputs...

There is a point in the manga where Toriyama draws one of Raditz's hands really weird. It is more that it is really small in proportion to the rest of his body. So it isn't just you.

If it is directed to South Supreme Kai then I think it is XXI trying to get him stirred up and blinded by his own self righteousness.

I bet so too. Nappa is honestly much nicer than Vegeta even in canon, wanted to wish back Raditz, got upset over his Saibamen being killed, if I had to have one of the three saiyans as an ally Nappa would be a good choice the only issue would be getting him to control his own temper.

I don't know if your story will be an e-novel or a comic or what but some advice? The whole releasing a page per weekday/three pages weekly format most webcomics take isn't good for the audience. If this is just a cold opening literary tool then no one would be upset had it been released as part of a five to ten page update. Everyone would have known what they were doing because instead of commenting they would have had a "next page" button to press that would have contextualized the artistic choice here.

I took a long break from DBM but when I came back and was reading through everything it is like those issues just evaporated. In fact, the reason I took that break wouldn't have happened at all because within a few pages the thing that bothered me was fleshed out better.

It also reminds me of the MSpaint Adventures 'comic', people would get really mad at Hussie for taking forever to make updates, but when he did he did in big blocks. Because you could figure out what he was going with something pretty quick these kind of things didn't happen.

If you release them in full fleshed out chapters with a beginning and an end you shouldn't have to worry about this hitting you too hard. Though if you leave people on cliff hangers between chapters too often they might still get testy but I think it is a better alternative than the sort of reactions you'd get from a single page at a time. 2 Replie(s)

If I recall she explains it in detail on the next page, but yeah, she basically evens out the power between them like BangBang said then depends on them freaking out over it to trash on them.

And Vegeta just absolutely doesn't care on top of being far more skilled and experienced than her completely nullifying that their power levels are even. All it does is make him spiteful towards her.

Yeah, I am wondering if this is just a linguistic difference between French and English but being a big muscle guy and being a fat guy aren't the same thing even if they're both heavy and broad.

But I have seen BMI or whatever used to justify calling body builders or power lifters fat, which is crazy to me but some people do it.

You're both overthinking this for two reasons.

1: Nail and Gast probably communicated telepathically which is how Nail knew all of this. Gast could oneshot Cell but still believe he was a threat to the whole universe simply by measuring his ki against everyone else's. The Kaioshin from Universe 1 defeated Bibidi pretty easily but recognized what he was doing was a cosmic level threat and they didn't even face Buu.

2: Nail isn't infallible. He might have just been aggrandizing Gast's achievements. I can't say if that is a very Namekian thing to do, but it is a very Human thing to climb on board the hype train. "This Cell monster was probably going to destroy the universe Gast is so great" or to quote Dende when Piccolo was smacking around second form Freeza "Go green!"

Gast, buddy, if you wanted Gero to come talk peace terms your strongly worded letter shouldn't have explicitly called for his unconditional surrender. No one is agreeing to that until you rough them up a little. I mean, it still wouldn't have worked but why even go through the effort when there's nothing for him to gain except a "fair trial" that you could be lying about?

I recall in the manga Nappa's immediate reaction to hearing about Gohan was to enthusiastically suggest cross breeding with the Earthlings to recreate the saiyan race.

Vegeta shot it down because of how much stronger Gohan was than Goku during the Raditz fight "Would you want a bunch of brats stronger than us running round before they even hit puberty?" or something like that.

You're all right. Vegeta is definitely being sarcastic here, but the choice of words don't convey that well.

It is a very minor error but it makes a huge difference.

Poor Raditz was slapping around a Super Saiyan for most of this fight.

I'd say he's doing pretty good for himself. But yeah, that last panel is colored beautifully.

Probably. Raditz is a silver tongued devil, if he isn't killed immediately I could see him preying on the Earthling's sense of mercy. Or trying, Tenshinhan wanted to be an assassin for most of his life, Yamcha was a bandit who killed who knows how many people, and Krillin only spared Vegeta in the main timeline because Goku asked him to- and all of them know Raditz killed Goku.

Guess that means he didn't train in the time chamber. While we don't know how strong these cyborgs are I doubt they're as strong as #17 and #18, probably more in line with #19. Enough to threaten an unrefined super saiyan but probably lose to one in a 1v1.

I know for some people that got picked on a little too much in highschool or trolled a little too hard online it can be hard to tell the difference, but there is one.

In fact, Piccolo calling it that feels like he was being coy. It is like saying "I played a funny prank on this guy" when you killed their dog and crucified it to the side of their house. Bardock might not be fully aware of just how bad Piccolo is, especially after Gast mentally tormented him for "secretly caring about humanity".

I think someone else said this, but it makes sense because Gero wanted to kill him so bad. Faking his death and keeping it VERY secret is the best way, Bulma and Krillin are probably the only two people that knew he was still alive and they didn't want to tell Gast because either they are so used to the lie that it comes naturally or because they didn't fully trust him or because they're paranoid of Gero's spy drones.

The better question is, as was said, why he is so much older than Videl when they should be around the same age. Then again he might have just hit a growth spurt. As an adult Gohan is a little taller than Goku (should have made him huge as a nod to the Ox King being his grandfather) and here Captain Chicken looks maybe Vegeta height? 1 Replie(s)

Diminishing results is a thing and important to keep in mind when trying to estimate how strong the humans would be training with Kami.

Goku and Tambourine both broke out of it, but it wasn't instantaneous either. Tambourine was confused by it and asked Giran what it was first then he had to strain to do it. I don't think the android will strain, but I do think he is shocked and grossed out enough for it to distract him long enough for Giran and Yajirobe to courageously run away.

I've never seen this, I don't always dip into the comments and when I do I don't always read them all. It is kind of akin to that Plinkett review where he said explaining things in supplemental material is pretty useless for a person who is just watching the movie.

I don't know where this characterization of Nappa came from, he is a violent thug for sure but when Raditz died he suggested bringing him back with the dragon balls. When the Saibamen die he gets mad and is upset when Vegeta puts the one Tenshinhan crippled down.

Vegeta is the most abrasive of the three. That's never been in question.

Freeza looks absolutely thrilled to have his lightning quick victory against Nappa brought back up.

XXI tripped Gohan and Vegito caught him, by the throat. He was so angry he just started blurting death threats. Fortunately Goku will be there with a Snickers, because when you're hungry you're not yourself. He gives one to XXI too, who has never encountered them before and whose cavernous cosmic hunger is finally satiated so he turns good.

This has just been a 20 year long candy bar advertisement all along.

I wouldn't call it good. This attempt to get Bra sympathy points made me dip on the comic that I'd been reading since 2009 until only a few months ago when I decided to give it another chance, to the point that I don't even remember my old log in and made a new one. I'd say they managed to course correct a little, Bra's always been a bit of a POS who has less self control than many of the villains in the series and showing what she did to make Vegito mad enough to tell her this helps draw a more rounded picture. Not sure if making her more sympathetic was the original intention here, but either way losing it and killing Goten then dooming a whole planet makes Vegito's reaction more understandable. Bra can't be trusted to be stronger than him.

That said the whole "no one can be stronger than me" trait they gave Vegito is still weird to me especially seeing it applied outside of Bra. He's a saiyan. He should want people to improve to challenge him. Both Goku and Vegeta let enemies get stronger just to challenge themselves.

XXI has been very secretive and "get off my lawn"ish towards anyone who isn't a tournament official. He's there to make sure Xii hears Bra's petition.

Because when you have physical media in your hand like a graphic novel or a comic book it is different than webcomics where you have to wait for updates. Even daily updates can generate this sort of impatience towards any kind of delay to story progression because you are reading one page at a time where as with an issue or a spot in a magazine you are getting a bunch of pages weekly/monthly.

I stopped reading DBM for a few years and came back to it and didn't feel that kind of irritation at splash panels because I was blowing through them, but once I caught up I started feeling it again. I never voiced it before or after though because I know that's just the way webcomics are and part of why I take breaks from them.
