As a 10+ year reader I've always thought it was obvious XXI would win the tournament. Gast will lose, Goku will get walked and XXI will get his wish which would lead to a 'part 2' style story where everyone team up to find a way to defeat XXI.

The tournament arc is just a way of introducing us to XXI while post tournament will get into more of the intricacies of the drgaon balls XXI, the multiverse etc etc

Piccolo is dead in this universe. Only Krillin, Goku & Gohan survived the Saiyan attack and Vegeta is the only important person who survived from the frieza/ cold army.

Goku is probably dead by heart virus or androids. Krillin & Gohan probably dead as they had no incentive to train so at miniumum saiyan saga level. Not known where Vegeta is maybe he went back to earth for revenge before the androids arrived

Good to see the explanation of the limited Potara fusions although I dont see why we cant get a goku/ Gohan/ vegeta fusion dance.

wow what a reveal. I always wondered what happened to janemba. I think this is definelty more of a summon than like raichi than the true identity of XXI.

Also this doesn't technically mean Gogeta movie happened in DBM. U5 split from the other universes way before the frieza era (from minicomic). I was always under the impression U5 split way before the current supreme kai era so even before Kid Buu first appearance but I dont know if that is confirmed anywhere. I think XXI origin has something to do with the power of the dragon balls or maybe the demon realm. He either managed to tame a dragon or something went wrong and he is a byproduct of it. His universe split millions of years before Bibidi and kid buu so isn't anything we have seen yet.

Maybe someone tried to make a majin buu and it ended up in disaster and that being eventually stumbled across a Dragon.

My guess is it's an idea borrowed from the shadow dragons. I don't think it would be something too complicated or entirely new as DBM was made with the intention to build from the lore established in DBZ and be an alternative to DBGT. There are also very few major characters which are completely new

I think XXI beats gast and likely oneshots goku or even reveals his true power then. XXI gets his wish then part 2 of the story happens. Even if the tournament finishes I don't think the story is over. At this point XXI has had Madara Uchiha level's of foreshadowing in our time so there will be a payoff


I also do wish we see the characters interact and react to events more but if they did too much people will say the story is dragging.

personally I hope neither side kills each other. The dynamic is too interesting for it to end like this kind of sad. I think if vegeta were to win he may leave raditz alive as kakarotto wouldn't be able to be mentally tamed without raditz and it would just be a nuisance to vegeta.

I doubt raditz & kakarot would leave vegeta alive though. I can only see them doing it to 'prove' they are not inferior to vegeta but it leaves the risk of vegeta getting stronger and killing raditz

If U13 actually get sent back I will miss their presence in the story. They are probably top 2/3 most interesting universe

i think people forget the change in Gohan's character from a young child to nearing the age of a teenager. During the early sagas Gohan would act much more on his instincts or whatever emotion he felt at that time. During this period from Saiyan to Frieza saga he was forced into alot of situations as his character wasn't fully set in stone yet. At this point in the series Kid Gohan is like a regular normal kid and acts like one. He doesn't show distinctive personality traits other than being kind hearted and having rage/ sad moments where he impulsively follows his emotions like a regular kid.


This started to change most notably in the cell saga when Toriyama made Gohan more of a pacifist and dislike fighting. While Gohan resented his initial training with piccolo, I think after so many episodes, most people were under the impression he liked or atleast didn't mind fighting. Now whether you like or dislike this change by Toriyama, it's easy to rationalize that as Gohan matured and developed his sense of self, he realized he didnt like to fight so much. As you grow older you also control yourself better and become less impulsive there's a reason Gohan had less rage boosts as the series progresses

Remember even though cell had absorbed millions of people, present Gohan still did not want to fight him citing. When goku was getting beat up by android 19, Gohan also did not rage and rush in like against raditz, vegeta, frieza or the ginyu force


Keep in mind, this special takes place 3 years after the cell games in the normal timeline. This Future Gohan is about 2-3 years older than his present counterpart while experiencing much more horrible things. He is inline with present Gohan but has an even weaker desire to fight and lower resolve

It needs more elaboration how gohan is so weak in the future timeline but at the time of the androids attack he may still be namek level. He presumably doesn't train with goku & piccolo much in the 3 years and if you discount rage buff vs 3rd form Frieza, at base he may not be even at ginyu level. Gohan vs full power frieza was filler

I also dont think the few months of training with piccolo in the Saiyan saga is enough for gohans skill or finesse to be truly developed. Kid Gohan never out skilled an opponent in combat. He is either way stronger than his opponent (ie. frieza soldier) or has a temporary rage boost. Raw power is not enough to beat the opponent

If you combine this with the long recovery times every time he gets beat up, I can somewhat see why he was so weak

i think it's possible future gohan was so weak because it took him ages to recover + not enough food to recover. Imagine if it always took him 6 months to a year to recover after every beatdown

I do much prefer to see rather than be told through dialogue what happened. Alot of the miari universe isn't told and is just left to imagination so it's good we get to see the details of how it fold outs

I think that theory actually makes perfect sense. Imagine if the tuffles did a gero and spied on earth for the strongest power levels.

people forget this isn't what vegito is always like. Vegito right now is starving so all his reactions are getting negatively amplified because of it. It has been established that he sustains a diet on multiple senzus as regular food or healing won't work for him. He will literally die from hunger without them.

Not only has he not had any senzus in awhile, but he's lost quite abit of energy due to buus second rampage.

if i had to guess with goku wide open vegeta will go for an attack only for goku to use vegito/ bras 'afterimage' like ki technique

Also to the people who complained about the flash forward just understand that it's a story telling technique used to create tension/ an atmosphere etc. You dont want all fights to be structured the same way

Comeon no need to be so negative even if theres no recap/ flashback in the next few pages it'll happen eventually. Sometimes building a mystery can be effective storytelling.

I think Vegito is not angry but also a mix of excited, frustrated, baffled and hungry making his every reaction more extreme. It's probably the first time in his life he's had so much to process in what is only a few days. Probably the first time he is in the position to learn and not be the one teaching. He's a saiyan too and probably wants to fight his half-selves now aswell if not a fusion of them.

Maybe im wrong but the fight can't be over already? they havent started the coutdown yet. Vegetas hair still has that 'glow' shading goku had last page. Compare it to vegito now or goku/ vegeta regularly or goku vs uub. Their 'base' hair are normally all black. 1 Respuesta(s)

It ain't over yet. Still waiting for fight flashback + reactions and some pre tournament training flashbacks. Even though Goku is the main character of dragon ball in DBM vegeta is right with him so I wouldn't be surprised to see him making a comeback.
Maybe Goku gets pierced with a controlled beam vegeta threw awhile back?? Important to note both guys don't want to kill the other person so will be interesting to see what happens

im guessing goku won and we'll get a flashback to pre-tournament next page although i dont think the fight is over yet. This panel is to emphasize their new power. Vegeta is very durable I think he'll get up during the countdown.

This is cool and makes sense narratively from the last 500 pages or so. I always theorized for many years the secret power to be mastered super saiyan 2 and that ssj3 was just an uncontrollable mutation from ssj2 like assj for ssj. Especially since when ssj2 first came out it was considered 'the correct way' to increase power and in many ways it was the perfect transformation.

For example. same revitalization, no speed lost, less power drain etc. I thought the next step would have been to master it and much like mastered ssj with the same principles it would be the 'true full power of super saiyan'. Same power as ssj3 with no energy drain + strain much like mssj was able to bring out ssj grade 2 power without strain.

So im abit bummed i guess but this makes sense and is cool too

Sidenote: Someone mentioned it above but their eyes look like gohans when he got angry at elder kai mid-dance. I wonder if those eyes are permeant for goku & vegeta since they discovered it naturally not via magic
