Casual writer and longtime DB fan. Daima is canon.

I like Chi Chi in this art style. A nice reminder that she might be fodder compared to the planet buster main characters, but she's still a capable fighter well beyond any normal person.

I get the feeling that Old Kai and Raditz really are dead, that means that South Kaioshin is under XXI's dominion, but since when? The first page of the chapter with South and the "Corruption!" "Destruction!" seems weird. If it was I'K'L warning South, then he would have been way more wary of XXI I feel like during their encounter. Was it possible instead that South was controlled by XXI this early on instead? Hard to say really. At the very latest I guess South got snatched on his way from XXI to Old Kai, if South is indeed under his control.
The only way I could see this happening is if they write his need for order turning into nihilism, or rather the strawman public perception of nihilism. "I can't control the chaos so I'm going to destroy everything" as a motivation...wasn't that literally a villain from Digimon? I hope that's not the path they're taking.
Yeah, I'm not buying this. South is the quintessential by the book cop. He didn't kill anyone.

He probably just didn't think of it. Bra destroyed half the stadium and killed thousands of people, and that was his focus. As far as Buu knows, the Senzu beans are a restorative tool, not required food for anyone. And I can see Vegetto wanting to keep him in the dark about that. For all his bluster, Vegetto still considered Buu a threat, even if it was one that he'd inevitably triumph over, meaning he wouldn't want to reveal a weakness to him. 1 Antworten
Friendly reminder that if XXI ends up controlling or otherwise influencing Vegetto because dude was hangry...its Bra's fault. She's the one who destroyed the Senzu stash.

I'm not so sure about that. I think Freeza considers Earth to be a backwater planet. And as much as he dumps on Vegeta, that's mostly because he's scared of the Super Saiyan legend. He knows that Vegeta is one of his elites. Hearing that he got beaten on a nothingburger of a planet might just make him decide its not worth the time.
Friendly reminder that this is all just pissing into the wind unless they can beat Vegeta.

His first time meeting Beerus he immediately asked to spar
When hearing he died without getting to fight the androids His first response was regretting a different version of him didn't get to fight
Heck, even with Cell, he planned from the start to let Gohan do it and knew he had no chance but he still fought first anyway
Simply put, Goku would NEVER give up without trying and if its "friendly" setting he'll definitely try fighting the stronger opponent just to see how well he measures up (it is completely in character for him to even challenge Vegetto to a spar just to see how well he'd do)
So yeah, either this is XXI's wish (which shouldn't be possible unless that dragon is actually stronger then Goku) or someone here really has no clue about Goku's character to ever write something this out of character

The issue is that its been established that mental tricks and magic are fair game, which means that this would actually be a legitimate victory for XXI, which kind of makes for a trash tier story when you use it as the final battle. They were wise to cut this out.

I think they did train seriously, like how everyone trained for the androids, because they thought the saiyans could land at any time. I'd put Yamcha and Krillin closer to Tien, and Nappa was more like 8k in the Saiyan Saga so maybe like 10k or 12k now.
To a point, yeah, but not to the same level they did for the Saiyans or Androids in canon. No one keeps up that level of intensity for ten straight years. Its just not human nature...unless you're Tien.

Far above Raditz, yes. Nappa? Maybe, maybe not. Most of them could have matched or beaten Raditz by the time Nappa and Vegeta arrived on Earth in canon, and Nappa still almost soloed the whole team. I say almost because he'd have been dumb enough to try to catch Krillin's kienzan had Vegeta not given him a heads up. Besides that little verbal assist, he demolished a team of five, at least three of which were equal to or stronger than Raditz.
I feel like a lot of people underestimate Nappa's power because they still go off of that old 4,000 rating for him. That's not even possible to be correct. He was batting Piccolo (3,500) around like it was nothing and gave Goku (8,000+) a challenge before he used Kaioken. Nappa was more like 6,000 or 7,000.
If all four of them are stronger than Nappa, they can probably take Vegeta together.
in the original Saiyan saga, the earthlings got their power levels to 1k+ in a year's time. given another 10-12 years (depending if they used hyperbolic time chamber), i think it's fair to assume their power levels are each approximately 10k+. however, i'm assuming that the Saiyans didn't get much more powerful themselves since they likely didn't have any intense battles during that time.
my estimated power levels:
Vegeta: 18k
Gohan: 15k
Tien: 13k
Krillin: 12k
Yamacha: 11k
Chao: 10k
Nappa: 6k
Radditz: 3k
Gohan is the big question mark, but I'd say he's likely already far more powerful than Vegeta when he gets angry

They trained intensely with Kami during that time because of the incoming Saiyan attack. They wouldn't commit themselves to it that harshly under normal circumstances. Well, maybe Tien, but the rest of them actually want to have a life. :P
If I had to put numbers to it, here are my estimates.
Vegeta: 20K (slight improvement over Saiyan Saga canon just due to a tough battle here or there)
Nasu: 12K (stronger than everyone aside from Vegeta, and I'll admit that this is a half guess; he could be anywhere between Vegeta and Nappa)
Nappa: 8,000 (6-7K in canon, with small boosts for the same reason as Vegeta)
Raditz: 4,000 (more likely to have had a zenkai or two than the other Saiyans)
Tien: 10,000 (he trains obsessively, and I'd say he could still take Nasu at this level due to the difference in experience)
Krillin: 6,000 (like I said before, he has a life beyond martial arts)
Yamcha: 5,000 (similar to Krillin, but potential is slightly lower)
Chaotsu: 3,000 (he trains a lot but not as much as Tien, but still his potential is horrible)
These numbers mean that they could likely take the three of them minus Vegeta, but as soon as the Prince steps in they're hosed. 1 Antworten

Only two things I can think of. Either they got so used to telling the lie that it came out without thinking, or they were worried that Gero had spies that might overhear their conversation. They were out in the middle of their base when they said it.

He's making chumps out of 3 androids, and he has confusion and surprise on his side. How many does Gero have? 20? 50? If Gohan stormed Gero's stronghold alone he might take a dozen down before one of them gets a lucky grab and drains him. It worked on Gast, who is considerably stronger than Gohan, simply because he didn't see it coming. How many android level targets can Gohan keep track of and avoid?
iron leaf sagte:
Since the topic was discussed somewhat prominently on the previous page, I wanted to make a comparison. If Captain Chicken really is Gohan, his size in relation to Videl wouldn't be so strange. Both also have a very similar size difference in U18 (DBZ). Videl is a bit smaller than Gohan in both universes (U18 & U7).
Its not the height. Its more Videl's features. If I didn't know who she was, I'd assume she was 10 or 11. She's supposed to be 14 here. Gohan Chicken looks like what I'd expect a 14 year old Saiyan hybrid to look like as far as height and build. Videl, I was expecting a slightly shorter version of her high school appearance, not something that looks like GT pan with twintails.
But again, this is a minor nitpick. Hardly something that ruins the story. We can just handwave it and say she's a late bloomer.

Vegeta would have no reason to go to Earth in this timeline. Last we saw of him he's off in space slaughtering Freeza's crew. He didn't actually form an emotional attachment to Earth until after Cell, and he has no practical reason to be there. I doubt very seriously its Trunks.
Keep in mind, Goku never went Super Saiyan in this timeline. He never fought Freeza. The pinnacle of Earthling power around that time was Gohan and Krillin when they first arrived on Namek. They likely don't even know Super Saiyan exists, unless Gohan saw some trauma offscreen that we don't know about yet.
The energy absorption models weren't that strong. Piccolo kicked Gero around like a soccer ball, pre fusion. Its not impossible to think that a base level Saiyan would be on par with Android era Piccolo after several more years of training. Hell, Krillin was shown to be able to harm one of them in the last chapter; he knocked 31's hand off of Gast and distracted him.
The only part of this that doesn't make sense is why Videl still looks like she's 11. I'll just chalk that up to one bad detail and enjoy the rest of the story.
As for why Gohan Chicken didn't do something before, he couldn't even take on one of them as a kid, then he got stronger but Gero built more. He's making chumps out of 3 androids. Now try it with 12. One lucky grab and he's hosed. He's not in the same league as Gast, even if he's a Super Saiyan, which he might not be.

Technology also doesn't just advance in a straight line. Old tech gets replaced by something entirely different. Even assuming he hasn't trained them, which he likely has at least on the side, Mr Satan is arguably already past 100 just based on his physical feats in canon.
Also, no, the androids are not stronger than Freeza. The infinite energy models were, but these are energy absorption models. 19 and 20 were utterly destroyed by not just Super Saiyans, but pre-fusion Piccolo. Its reasonable to assume Gero was working off the same data (he watched Goku's battles up until his fight with Vegeta) and would have no reason to significantly boost their strength if they're already dominating Earth's resistance. They're probably not stronger than Freeza.

It seems pretty intuitive. Remember, there wasn't a massive power gap between Goku and the humans until he started doing training that they didn't. Sure, Super Saiyan threw that out the window, but base Krillin and Videl being on par with base Goku in a universe where they had the benefit of the Room of Spirit and Time and King Kai's training makes total sense.

Vegeta's leap in power after his defeat on Earth was because he got his ass absolutely handed to him. Given his reaction to that, it was a rare occurrence. If anything, Vegeta is likely not much stronger than he was in canon on Earth, but he's getting edgy because the power gap between him and his minions is shrinking. Or none of them are losing fights, and they're all just marginally stronger.
Still, show me how the heck a bunch of humans handle an 18,000+ power level without having ever been to King Kai. They don't even know who King Kai is, and likely have no idea what a Saiyan is. 1 Antworten

Okay, I'm mad they just timeskipped over how the Saiyans raised/brainwashed him. That would be a much more interesting story than watching what's essentially an OC in action.

XXI is attacking the kid cause he can, it doesn't disqualify because according to the tournament rules, the kid is basically part of him and his abilities.
Attacking the kid just baits the hero (Gast) into protecting him, making Gast even easier to kill.
Something that could be cool and a little unexpected would be if Goku and others jump in too to save the kid.
If that were to happen Goku would be disqualified and XXI would win the tournament, turning the whole thing into the worst case scenario.
This story needs more of the good old "things get worse before they get better" treatment.

You might be right. I was expecting Goku to win but for it to be rendered moot by something XXI does. He clearly doesn't care about the dragon balls anyway. I think its pretty obvious he's out to destroy 19 other realities or countless other realities if he can, its just a question of how he's going to do it. 1 Antworten
My prediction: XXI wins, but killing the random oni kid is going to disqualify him, making Goku the winner by default.

Is this going to be another "Raditz turns good" story? I can't get enough of those. I really feel like Z wasted him.

I'm honestly kind of surprised to see how many problem translations there are for this comic. You'd think it'd be easier to find a fluent English speaker who can read French well enough to do it.
Its honestly the only major issue the comic has. I hope they go back and fix some of the oddball dialogue one day. 1 Antworten

Gast is DBM's Batman. He's not the strongest, but if you give him too long to fight you, he will find your weakness.

Babadi, Buu, and XXI are all major antagonists. What's Vegetto doing in the same row as them? Or is it even Vegetto? If it is, is he there willingly?

That would be TFS Goku.
It is now my headcanon that the guy saying "Oh no" is TFS Goku, and nothing will change that.

I still don't think Vegetto is going to berserk. Its going to be a subversion.
If XXI can just...make warriors, would that explain Vegetto's rampage? The real Vegetto is drained and still recovering from I'K'L's attack. His body is healed but his energy is gone. What if XXI makes a smoke-clone of Vegetto? Gast would really be the only one who could stop a fully powered Vegetto at this point, so if he goes home, and the real Vegetto is still out of power...
If they really want to screw with us, have Mary Sue play some part in XXI's defeat. Give that long running joke on the tournament help page some legitimacy to it. 2 Antworten

I'm calling this now: the body is just a shell, and Discount Hexxus is the real XXI, which means Vegetto never goes insane. He gets possessed.

Considering what this was, it didn't need an entire chapter. It would have been better as 4-5 pages.

I think Goku could at least understand what the nervous system does, even if his eyes would glaze over at explanations of chemicals traveling between axons and dendrites or something like that. He's smart enough to know what wires do, so Whis probably told him he has something like wires in his body that send the signals from his brain to make him move. And he's smart enough to get that signals take time to travel; he's been seen sticking his head underwater to hear faraway sounds before.

He's got no ways left to heal. The Nameks can't do it (or at least that's what he says), both Buus are gone, and they're out of Senzus. The only hope I can see is Gast or Uub coming in to do it, but we don't know if healing is part of their skillsets, and Uub isn't even here right now.
What if XXI is the only one who can save him? Could that be how he goes berserk? They allow him to cast a healing spell and he slips in a control spell, or a spell to amplify his rage, when he does so?

Gohan saying "you retard" to Buu is a meme. He called Buu stupid in the original JP, and one of the translators decided to use the word retard in the subtitles, and the internet has never forgotten it.

Much easier to tell he's transforming here. Literally his only difference besides the strength boost is colorization.

The fact that Bido could take that hit with just a bit of blood coming from his mouth makes me think that Bojack is going to stomp Polar. Which makes me think that Snower is hiding in wait.
DB Multiverse page 2289
I hope he stays balanced. Part of what made Gohan interesting was that he didn't like fighting. Having him enjoy it alongside the other things in his life would be a nice addition to his character, but if he starts training as hard as his dad its full on derailment.

The art has been awesome. It has been beyond anything we have seen until now (and we had REALLY GOOD ARTISTS here)
I just wanted to echo this. This site showcases plenty of awesome artists and yet this managed to blow me away even having seen everything that came before it.
Picardi is a great artist, but his stuff just doesn't look like Dragon Ball. Having him help out behind the scenes was a great idea.

Uub his first real challenge, his victory felt really un-earned. Uub knocked him out for a while and he managed to get up before Uub did. That's kind of lame.
If was a reference to the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament. The exact same thing happened in the finals between Goku and Roshi, only Goku was on the losing end of it. 1 Antworten

Only for Vegeta fans who aren't satisfied with the rivalry as it exists currently.
i.e. two comparable fighters capable of beating each other "on any given sunday"
(Which is what we got in this chapter and the Pan flashback).
Just the Vegeta fans who are obsessed with Vegeta destroying and/or "convincingly surpassing" Goku.

Vegeta is my second favorite character in Dragon Ball, and I'm happy with the outcome for this reason. He and Goku went all out and had an even battle, and it could have easily gone the other way. I don't want to see him destroy Goku, because then he'll lose a big chunk of his motivation to get stronger.
To anyone complaining that we know the winner: its Dragon Ball. We knew Goku was going to win.
