Heroic symbols of hope don't beat their daughter with killing intent or feel incredible urges to strangle somebody (Gohan) just for speaking their mind. He's not evil, but he's totally insane. It's like everybody follows him cause they're afraid. He fell from grace and stopped being a beacon of any kind a long time ago. He is not a good guy, much less a hero. He has a god complex
