I like to think that Tenshinhan came up with an improved version of the Kaioken that is less powerful but also puts much less strain on the body. Before he trains with Kaio there's a panel where he says something like "Even if I did the same training as Goku I could never surpass him. I have to just learn the key points of the training and refine my own technique". It's kind of a stretch to say that he figured it out and Piccolo mastered it in a week, but it would explain why Piccolo was so confident.

I still wonder how Kakarot managed to beat Mercenary Tao, Kami, or King Piccolo if he was freed. Without those additional power boosts from in story events like training under Roshi, Korin, and Ultra Divine Water what would compensate for Kakarot getting so much stronger ?

I think that would be a master of all trades. Unless I'm mistaken, a jack of all trades is someone who is decent at everything (or a bunch of things) but generally not a master of any of them. Buu... well, pretty sure he's absorbed masters of EVERY trade.

The "kaioken next level thing" is probably the wost thing they have done with this comic I mean it was one thing that they made broly op, but the way they did kaioken is the only part of the comic that annoys me every time I see it, at first I thought the earthling just named it differently in their universe and I thought well abit annoying but different universe so whatever but then ubb did it from the main universe and honestly it ruined the fight for me.

Actually, "mirror moves" DON'T make sense, UNLESS both of them are lazy losers (which they MAY be, loool).
See, at this Power Level they definitely can SEE the other's move.
So, logically speaking, a REAL warrior would adjust his REACTION, as opposed to continuing to MIRROR the move.
Unless they are nano-second tuned to perfect mirroring (which is unlikely), one of them is REACTING to the other's move.
And if the one REACTING is literally just going through with a COPY move... well, these guys ARE losers, lol.

The one thing Super does that it never gets credit for is making the cast seem like friends. Toriyama had a terrible habit of those ginormous timeskips of nearly decades at a time where the cast just apparently never interacted.
In Super they meet up relatively often.
It's a redeeming quality that doesn't get spoken about nearly enough.
