I think he may actually know how to do it, and is tricking goku into a false sense of security to catch him off-guard.

Maybe something about still holding a grudge against Kakarott because they befriend Vegeta and Buu while Broli just gets thrown into the sun? Broli is out of the series anyway by this point, why not give him a mini-arc or setup for his Vegetto fight here?

Not much to add, just wanted to say that I agree. With paragus it'd be a bit weird considering he was the one to kill him, but maybe he feels some relief when the universe is destroyed that he can finally rest. I think something that would make this broly interesting is a desire NOT to go berserker, and eliminate kakarot because he knows he is the last thing that could push him to the edge. now, he starts the tournament in LSSJ, so that's not happening, but... I dunno, I just thought it would sound nice.

why didn't buu just, y'know, absorb Broly? pretty sure he could manage to contain his mind without going berserk.

This comment will never be seen; but this was my favorite special. It was extremely good in every way. And it actually made me feel something.

I know this is a bit controversial to say, but I'm not enjoying the really really fast pace of some of these specials. two pages in and we already have so much, from gohan being terrified immediately to goku asking what to do to immediately the fusion of buu and piccolo approaching, but no time to show any reaction, the fusion is already acting and absorbing everyone, and all of that in only two pages.
I understand satisfying impatient readers and moving the plot forward rapidly; and I also perfectly understand the influence of the fan feedback. But if you want my opinion (you don't), the latest U18 special (Chapter 78) was ne of the best, if not THE best special because it took it's time to establish things, neither too much to grow boring nor to fast to grow tiring. Whilst here, it's a bit hard to keep up - and thus to care, because the stup is so fast we don't have time thinking about it.
Against it's just an opinion. The artwork is still great as always, but I just wanted to point that out since I've noted that issue for a while
