I'm noticing a lot of people either not quite understanding and/or misframing the arguments here. This is becoming a common theme.

To answer you directly: Vegito having a latent dark side has been foreshadowed, yes. Vegito being an abusive father towards Bra (or any of his kids) is a recent development conveniently introduced as the catalyst for Bra's "redemption" arc. I don't believe I've gone as far as to call it a retcon, (I might have, I don't remember) but it's understandable some feel that way.

I appreciate where you're coming from, and also appreciate a respectful disagreement! So yes, let's try to bridge that understanding gap.

I think part of the disconnect between the two camps is that there's a difference between a retcon and a revelation. Vegetto being furious and attacking Bra here is not a retcon if it has been intended from the start that he's a dangerous loose cannon who cannot stand being contradicted. And that's exactly what we've seen.

We are seeing Vegetto in a crisis right now, and he's reacting poorly. None of that is a retcon. It's not being "conveniently introduced" - the groundwork has been laid, as many have pointed out. He's arrogant, even in DBZ (he is half Vegeta after all) and very accustomed to getting his way. And when he doesn't, he gets pissed. Considering he's already threatened Bra's life before for exactly this reason, why shouldn't we believe he'd do anything we've seen so far? When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

The Kaioshins also said at some point that mortals using potara fusion was never meant to happen and may have created an abomination, or something along those lines. So even if we want to argue that Toriyama's Vegetto would never have gotten to this point (which is hard to speculate on honestly, since he was only around for like 20 minutes), Salagir's version of the character might be vastly different.

As for how people feel about Bra, there's a difference between sympathy, empathy, and pity. A lot of people are mad that Salagir is "trying to make them feel bad" for Bra. Feel however you feel! I can think Bra's a real piece of garbage who might deserve a good beating, while still feeling like it maybe shouldn't be her dad delivering it, especially when his attitude and actions probably shaped her a great deal.

I only have one thing to say, and that yes, although Vegito's threat was a bit, harsh, I feel as if he meant it. I don't think it was to outright control bra, because we haven't seen this behavior at all. If it was in an effort to control Bra, I would assume it would've been shown more prior to that scene. I believe he makes that threat because he is the protector of his Universe, and if it means killing his own daughter, he'll do so. I do also feel as if the tone in which Vegito chooses is an attempt to make Bra's genocide less impactful. The word choice is questionable, worded in a way unfitting for even Salagir's Vegito up till that point, and Vegito clearly makes no effort post the asteroid scene to help Bra control her powers. I don't believe Vegito has ever been neglectful of Bra, or her powers (correct me if I'm wrong). It just points further to the fact that, in my opinion, the Asteroid scene is:

1. A way to quickly antagonize Vegito, or a retcon
2. And a way to make Bra seem better, also a retcon

His attack on Bra was clearly going to happen at some point after the asteroid scene, or even during the beginning of the Majin Bra fight. But I personally believe Vegito's excessive violence was completely uncalled for. Something completely out of his Character. Y'know, like it was an attempt to make Vegito seem even worse.

Open to more discussion though

Anti-Pan Gang was saying: I have nothing to say except. Why? Salagir why? Why do you insist on trying to make us feel sorry for Bra? It's such a clear attempt to make Bra look good and Vegito look bad.
But it doesn't make us feel sorry? Her sadism prior was too cruel. She is going to get thrashed and her all of a sudden having control in SSJ2 doesn't mean anything. She getting off for killing everyone, including family without punishment would be absolute BS. Mind control is one thing, enjoying it and knowing full well what you're doing is another. Vegeta paid the price for what he did, Bra will have to as well.

No I'm just saying that Salagir is making clear attempts with making Vegito a much worse character than previously portrayed. I'm not saying anyone should feel sorry for Bra, I'm just saying, that Salagir is making Vegito seem good, which, by proxy, makes Bra seem better.

I for one thought she had it coming.
