I assumed it was more a suppression of magic more then anything. Gast was still unable to use most of his abilities. Its clear that the smoke does not completely cut the user off from the outside because the Namekian Judge heard the surrender call. Ultimately more clarification is needed, since his magic was actively being suppressed by much of the metal still in his body. IT's requirement for a lock is generally for long distance, to say, avoid landing in space or solid matter, I don't think its ever been clarified for shorter distances. Such as when he used it against cell.

It still stands to reason that Goku is well equipped to avoid this smoke attack, and that reason is IT. Gast had no easy way to get out of it because he'd ultimately have to move through it, but Goku's instant transmission means he can escape it pretty much at will, or possibly a strong enough Kiai could disperse it. Hence why he needed Gast weak in order to use it successfully. For all his bluster there must have mean a way for him to defeat the attack or he wouldn't have wanted him at his most damaged/weak in order to perform it. DBM Continues to treat Gohan and Piccolo better then the actual manga/anime does. Amazing how much better this shit feels when its more then just the Goku and Vegeta show.
Like, I understand why they brought 17 in, Future Trunks was leaving and they just defaulted to the next pretty character with the same haircut to try and keep the female viewers, but the frezia wank still annoys me.

I miss Cell Saga, when Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Trunks, and Gohan all got to be heavy hitters at one point or another, and even Krill and Tien got some good scenes.

We're going to spend this entire arc waiting for Zen Buu to go evil, and its going to turn out that after absorbing so many people and gaining so much knowledge he's actually turned in a pretty decent guy, who may even regret what he did. Maybe his wish isn't so different from Gaasts in the end. Maybe thats the swerve.

I remember them saying as much when the page first came out, the humans without the saiyans had to become masterful teambased fighters with none of the 1 at a time bullshit. Videl shoved her kaioken so high for that one smack on cell that she basically burnt herself out completely in one swing, which meant they likely had only one shot, and never gave that cell Jr. the chance to get out of his HEHE LETS TOY WITH THE WEAk- OW! IF its Gast he's going to do something not involving brute strength, he's shown to have access to abilities that are great equalizers, such as the case with Mr Old Man Mage. SSJ3X100020 Vecheetoh has shown he's not impervious to magical abilities, and Gast show'd some chops for that when he settled down zen buu.

That or he's a Namekian that learned the Kaioken, in which case all bets are off. Gast's level of regeneration would let him push that shit to comically high levels, I'd imagine only Zen Buu would be more dangerous with an ability like that.


If only... remember when DBS was going to be a chance to not have a trunks arc no one asked for out of nowhere, and then have android 17 return out of nowhere to take up shitloads of screen time that could have been spent on other characters, and how the series wasn't going to turn into the GokuXVegeta show like GT did?

DBM still treated Piccolo better in this anarchy chapter then the actual series has since Cell Saga. Which is a shame, Since piccolo seems like he'd a pretty strong candidate for manipulating god chi, and it would bring another non-saiyan into the mix.

Won't lie. I was hoping for a Piccolo's sync/fusion since the two of them started to actually get panel time and do some cool shit, but maybe it would have been too much like Ghast. I dunno, Honestly being a piccolo fan is suffering anyway. Big Green will never be relevant to the plot again, Super ultimately just turned into the Goku and Vegeta show with a season of trunks just like GT.
