Meta Buu could have easily pulled off leaving a portion of himself across the universe to survive. The Vargas appeared 8 years after these events happened, so the remaining portion of Meta Buu would likely have defused and let all of the other characters go their merry ways. The Vargas were simply not interested in these characters since universe 18 comprises the rest of these characters already. Like you said, all they have to do is teleport Broly out of the black hole and he will be basically unharmed.

It has been mentioned that Broly was the only remaining character in universe 20, but I am not sure where this claim originates. The beginning of chapter 3 only mentions that Broly was found frozen, and that if he was alive when his fight started that he would be eligible. Broly being the only remaining being in the universe may be mentioned somewhere, but I cannot recall it.

Here is the simplest way to write Broly out of this situation without stooping to "more maximumer" power. Increased gravity also means time dilation. Broly is right next to a supermassive blackhole, so time dilation is at a ridiculous level. The tournament takes place in age 794, and these events took place in 786, so if the Vargas have some way of entering a universe and "teleporting" the strongest beings straight to them, then an eight year time skip doesn't mean much.
