So, everyone wants an answer about when Vegetto is going to lose his self control in public, in front of everyone.
I will attempt to answer this question, but there's a lot of information that you all need to read in order to create the necessary context to make sense of the situation. If you don't have time to read this, you don't have time to read the comic and should find another story. Since many of you desperately crave to know more, something like this might actually prove to be a very good read for you, since it is technically a much deeper insight into the story itself. If you don't want to know, for the sake of going in blind, then don't read this post and go about your business.

(Vegetto picking a fight with Gohan, while he's having to endure a full year of starving to death as his planet of salvation grows millions of senzu beans to sustain his lifeforce.)

[U16 Novelization: chapter 7]
(Vegetto is learning instantaneous movement from Kibito Kai, and is dissatisfied with the results three days in, after boasting three days would be enough time to learn a technique that took Kibito in excess of 15 years to master. His target was to end up in his apartment.)

Kibito Kai felt him exuding ki, betraying the extrem contentration of his student when Vegetto suddenly opened his eyes and brought his fingers to his forehead before disappearing... To reappear a bit farther a few seconds later. The god, curious to know where Vegetto had appeared, looked inquiringly had him, to what the Saiyan answered:

(Vegetto): "I ended up in the corridor"
(Kibito Kai):"It's good all the same!" congratulated Kibito Kai. "You still don't have the required accuracy, but it's not bad. You managed to teleport yourself there without any incident in such a short time!"
(Vegetto): "No, it's not good!" moaned Vegetto. "I take all day to focus on a place and to concentrate my energy before disappearing, and I'm not even able to do it well!"

Vegetto furiously freed his ki. His hair stood a bit more on end and got a golden shade. His sudden increase of energy freed great wind gusts throwing Kibito Kai away. He went over the Super Saiyan to reach the level above it.

(Vegetto): "I'm fed up with being in my genitors' shadows, fed up with these fucking responsibilities that I have, fed up with doing my head in spending time equally with my families, fed up with sitting between two stools, and above all I'm fed up with that lack of energy!" (For context: Vegetto was starving to death and needed to wait an entire year for his chosen planet of salvation to grow the millions of senzu beans he would need, just to stay replenished.)

His aura became golder than ever, blinding the god who was panicking in front of the uncontrollable anger of his disciple who was still yelling his feelings:

(Vegetto): "I want to live at peace, damn it. I don't even had time to do anything bad in that fucking life! I don't deserve to go through all that! All I want is to chuck everything out! I'm fed up to the back teeth with troubles, families and raging hunger!"

He finished with a long scream as he was increasing his strength to a level still unequaled as he attained super Saiyan 2.
Kibito Kai couldn't believe his eyes. Vegetto's power was phenomenal. He had never felt anything like that! He realized that he was uncontrollably shaking, deeply impressed. He fought to get up and got near Vegetto. This latter glared at him, reflecting his mood, angry to say the least.

(Kibito Kai): "L... Listen, Vegetto... It... Calm down, ok?'' stammered Kibito Kai. "It's not bad if you don't do it straight off, it's actually normal, but please, control yourself..."

Vegetto looked down. The vessel on his forehead beating hard. The Saiyan bend his elbow and said:

(Vegetto): "I... can't bear that situation anymore..."
(Kibito Kai): "You need to rest, my friend. Relax and let's go to bed. It's not bad if you haven't mastered the technique in three days. Four would be impressive all the same!"

Kibito needed more than fifteen years to master it... thought the sulking god.

Vegetto relaxed his muscles and his hairs went back to black and sagged a bit, as his aura clearly fell in intensity. Finally, he went to the place where he have been sleeping the past three days without saying a word and lay down.

[U16 Novelization: chapter 14]
(Old Kai): “Your power is huge. It's too huge. Son Gohan, your son whose potential I upped beyond its limits, was to be the most powerful warrior there ever was. And you overpower him. By far.”
(Vegetto): “So?”
(Old Kai): “So, Vegetto, you're an universal colossal abnormality in the great story of the universe. You would pass Majin Buu or the Legendary Saiyan off as a misplaced comma! You're an entire chapter written the wrong way! In my day, that kind of being was eliminated at birth!”
(Vegetto): “So? You can't kill me. But I appreciate your honesty, Kai. I actually wondered how such madness, such as the Legendary Saiyan and Majin Buu could hang around in the universe. And I infer that it's due to the East Kaioshin's kindness, or rather his incompetence. Too Gokûish to kill innocents that would destroy the universe one day, I suppose.”
(Old Kai): “That's right Vegetto... We can't do anything against you... or almost nothing... But I saw your power increasing... I saw you getting angry... and I saw the end of the universe. I saw it becoming a pile of particles the day you decided you are fed up with it... And as Kaioshin, my job is to prevent it from happening.”
(Vegetto): “I like laying cards on the table,” Vegetto said. “ For a long time, I have been suspecting that you'd rather see me dead, or weaker. As you invented the fusion, you're most likely the only ones who are able to hurt me. Good thing that my education, as well as a part of me, have made me keep you alive, out of safety. After all, I rather like you.”
(Kibito Kai) nervous sweating
(Vegetto): “But beware.” added Vegetto as he held out his finger. “You won't do anything against my being alive. Both of you are merged beings, and, as for me, you're unable to become the two beings you originally were. The three of us know that once the shock had passed, we feel like one person. If I were to feel the mere hostile action against me, you'd be dead, both of you. Remote as you are, it'd take one thousand years for anyone to notice you are not here anymore. And I'm not kidding.”

[Universe 16 Novelization chapter 17]
(Vegetto is seeking advice from the Grand Elder of Namek, before making a choice to father a child to Bulma.)

(Grand Elder): “Why would your child destroy the universe? No Saiyan had ever destroyed a planet because he found it fun. Besides, ruling the universe is quite meaningless...”
(Vegetto): “There were people who wanted to do it...”
(Grand Elder): “People... like you?”

He had found it.

(Vegetto): “I thought about it.”
(Grand Elder): “Why?”
(Vegetto): “I'm bored. I know that I'll never find an opponent that'd be of some challenge. At times, I just want to leave everything. To mess around. But I won't do it.”
(Grand Elder): “That thought only crossed your mind. You don't have to worry about your future.”
(Vegetto): “I'll never do it. I like my family, I'm sane and calm. I know I won't do it.”
(Grand Elder): “But if that idea was to cross your son's mind... you don't know if he wouldn't do it.”
(Vegetto): “Yes... If I thought of it, it's possible he does too.”
(Grand Elder): “If you can control yourself, why couldn't he?”
(Vegetto): “I had impulses. And some of them almost destroyed the Earth or even the universe. Vegeta is to blame for Perfect Cell creation, as well as Buu's resurrection, all because of his impulses. And when we go super saiyan, we are closer to the saiyan primal state, and strange ideas cross our mind, especially when we do it for the first time. I'm very powerful, but I'm old too. I'm born with two times 60 years of studies of my urges. When my son will become super saiyan, he'd be less prepared. The quiet Gokû became really violent when he turned super saiyan; and so did Vegeta. He was ready to go and destroy Freeza's entire empire. But he had decided to keep his strength for the cyborgs and his rival. They could have destroyed the planet they were standing on with my strength. Just in an off-guard moment.”
(Grand Elder): “Once again, you were pure Saiyans. Your three sons hadn't gone through such symptoms when they became super saiyans.”
(Vegetto): “That's true, but that could happen to them too. When he reached the super Saiyan level two, Gohan did completely change.”

The chief of the Namekians fell silent again to think and to get in thoughts in order.

(Grand Elder): “You're just giving me excuses.”
(Vegetto): “I'm sorry?”
(Grand Elder): “Even if your offspring were to lose his mind, he'd remain your son. And he'd remain less powerful than you for a long while... You'd manage to make him see reason. Your son to come isn't a danger for the universe. You are.”
(Vegetto): “But I just told you that...”
(Grand Elder): “... that you can control yourself. But you fear that someday, you'll fail. You feel that there is a dark side in you, and you're afraid of it. And you think that your son will have it too.”
(Vegetto): “I'm a danger for the universe?”
(Grand Elder): “Much more than your son would be. Maybe your son will have to bring you to heel.”
(Vegetto): “...”

[Universe 16 Novelization: Chapter 20]
(Bulma has given birth to Bra, and Vegetto has verified her power level to be over 13000 as an infant.)

(Roshi): “She's stronger than I?” inquired the old Kame-senin.
(Vegetto): “By faaaaaar, master. Don't you feel her strength?”
(Roshi): “Nothing offensive anyway.”
(Vegetto): “Well, to give you an idea of her power, you could attack her now with all your strength, you could beat her up
and she'd not be hurt.” explained Vegetto.

The old turtle master just gaped.

(Roshi): “Come on, it's impossible.”
(Vegetto): “Well, try. Go ahead, hit her.” merely said Vegetto.
(Roshi): “But... I really can't hit a baby!”
(Vegetto): “As you wish. Oh, I'll show you a game she likes.”

She was hardly two day old and already, she enjoyed playing games? Thought Kulilin as they all left the house.
Vegetto was holding his daughter with one hand and held out his arm. In a sweeping movement, he throw her into the air at great speed! She soon disappeared from everyone's field of sight.

(Roshi): “Huh... you didn't put her into orbit, did you?”
(Vegetto): “No, don't worry...”

After a while that seemed to last for ever, she fell back on Earth. Vegetto made a few steps on the side in order to be in the right place to catch her for the distance she had covered couldn't be that vertical because of the wind and from such a height.
Oh well... thought Gokû's friend, at least that baby isn't afraid of height. It's not that bad. Vegetto is going to catch her, but with so little space to slow down her fall, then it was going to be really brusque... I wonder what he has in mind.
He didn't make a single move when Bra passed in front of him.
All the others hardly had time to move in her direction when the baby crashed on the sand of the beach, throwing sand in every directions. Her father bent down to pick her up.
Bra didn't have the mere scratch. Actually, she was giggling, as everyone else but Vegetto were starring at her, rather dazed and afraid.
Well, on the other hand, it was true that given the level of her strength... that was quite logical... It was as if one placed a bit abruptly a baby on soft sheets. But that truth wasn't that acceptable for the brain of a human being.
As for Vegetto, he had no trouble adapting to that.

(Vegetto): “I'd like to throw her so that she'd go through the moon, you see? To have her come out from the other side of it. But I think I'd have to use a lot of power to do that. As I wasn't sure, I supposed it was best to wait for her strength to increase. What do you think?”

Later on...

As for Son Gohan, he climbed the scientific career ladder and worked on researches that none among his relatives and friends ever understood the topic. He had three favourite laboratories, one of which he was going to own a dozen of years later. He could go from one to the other in a very short time and he could also work at home. He had, by the way, gathered here a huge and impressing library in a era where books mostly were ornamental items.
Actually, people could see him moving thick books on the week-end.
And that really annoyed Vegetto. Come on, the second strongest being in the whole universe spent his free time with books!

(Vegetto): “Please, a little fight!”
(Gohan): “We'll make the Earth shake another time, dad. I've many things to do since Pan's birth. The administration is requesting completely stupid things! Do you know that because of her grand-father, she's considered a princess? It doesn't give her any privilege, but I still have to fill up the files.”
(Vegetto): “Pleaaaase! I'd like to see you motivated for once! We can go on Jupitron-9? The air is breathable and the gravity is 200G! We can break anything we want there!”
(Gohan): “What? A gravity of 200 times Earth gravity?”
(Vegetto): “Ah ah! I knew you'd be interested!”
(Gohan): “So it means that the gravitational acceleration reaches 1962 meter per second squared! I don't think that rock or earth can take such an heavy pressure. I wonder what is it made of.”
(Vegetto): “Huh?”
(Gohan): “And how can the air be breathable? The oxygen should at least be liquid on that planet. I suppose it's still dangerous for the body.”
(Vegetto): “But what are you babbling? The air is breathable, that's all there is to know! Bra didn't complain about it.”
(Gohan): “What? You had your little girl support that pressure??? But she weighed about 25 500 Newton over there!”
(Vegetto): “Gohan, what you're saying doesn't make sense. All I can tell you is that Bra and I survive very well when we go there. Anyway, I can see you're in no mood for a serious fight. You never are.”
(Gohan): “Eh... yes, dad. I'm sorry, but fighting isn't my favourite pastime.”
(Vegetto): “I know. Yet you never fought better than years back, when you fought against Buu, Ah, I remember that one! Motivation can change everything with you!”
(Gohan): “Eh, I guess so. So, I've to go dad. Dad...? Are you ok?”
Vegetto had just stopped moving, his fingers were contracted and looked like claws.

(Vegetto): “I... huh.. no, it's nothing. I'm going. See you later, my son.”

And he teleported himself.
Vegetto had materialized in a barren place on the Senzu planet. He didn't want his friends to detect the anger – and power – excess that he was about to release.

(Vegetto): “AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!” he yelled to the sky.

It had lasted less than half a second, but the thought had crossed his mind.

(Vegetto): “How could I thought of doing such a thing?!?”

He still was feeling the disgust from the image of his hand, tainted with blood.

(Vegetto): “That old Namek was right! What an ass-hole!”

The steam that was rising behind him, the destruction of the entire planet, but more important than that...

(Vegetto): “No, I'm the ass-hole! Ass-hole, bastard!”

More important than that, the injured body, yes, injured, not dead, for it was more effective...

(Vegetto): “Monster! You Saiyan jackass!”

Gohan's little baby, held hostage in his hand.

(Vegetto): “That was only a fleeting thought... Yes, I've been bored for so many years... I'd like to have a good challenge for once, that's all... I'd never do such a thing.”

Gohan was the strongest being in the universe, second to Vegetto. Even if he didn't transform in super Saiyan, the Immortal couldn't be a good and interesting challenge. But Gohan seldom agreed to fight, and when he did, and even if his strength was the same, it was obvious that it was just a friendly spar in his mind. Anger... Yes, anger and the need to protect and to save his friends, weren't here, and his fighting spirit significantly lowered.
Subconsciously, Gohan used just a ridiculously small part of his true power when he fought against his father.
In order to make him truly fight, Vegetto could have torn the planet apart and hurt his wife and his daughter...

(Vegetto): “What an horrible thought.”

He thought that all that was behind him. And now he had a thought that was like one Perfect Cell could have had.
Was he going to speak about it to the Kaioshins?
Eh... that was only a stupid idea, he had strangled at birth. It was nothing too bad. He was being too hard on himself.
(Vegetto over simplifies and downplays the severity of this issue, and thus it was never properly addressed.)

[DBM Novelization: Chapter 15]
Buu sensed Vegetto arriving. Buu stood, immobile, near the boundary wall separating his space, waiting for the fused Saiyan to arrive. The Saiyan, smiling, greeted him with one hand as he approached and then, reaching over the wall, he jumped over to sit down.

(Vegetto): "Hey!" He greeted simply. "Didn't see you there."
(Buu): "Me neither," lied Buu. "How interesting..."
(Vegetto): "Really? I thought the same thing, too. I guess you noticed Universe 20's fighter."
(Buu): "The ice cube? Yes, it interests me, why?"
(Vegetto): "I want to confront it."
(Buu): "And?"
(Vegetto): "I want you to help me."
(Buu): "No way. That opponent will be mine."
(Vegetto): "Come on, let him be mine. And I promise that we will fight."
(Buu): "We can still fight after I've defeated him."

A pause settled. The two warriors were looking for a big challenge here. They seemed to agree on certain points.

(Vegetto): "Listen, I've already fought this guy. I want to face him again."
(Buu): "If you've already fought him, it's my turn," retorted Buu by pointing his finger at Vegetto.
(Vegetto): "If you fight Broly, I refuse to confront you," Vegetto said, folding his arms and turning his head to one side, sulking.
(Buu): "You still might not have the choice," retorted Buu, who still had not out of arguments.
(Vegetto): "Aha! You admit that can cheat to fight whoever you want!"
(Buu): "Don't pretend, I know you already knew."
(Vegetto): "Hmm... you're pretty smart," said Vegetto with a smile.
(Buu): "I'm not fooled. After all, you and I have much in common. It is the Goku and Vegeta within me. That part of me is excited about the fight against you. Goku wants to face the side of Vegeta that is within you and Vegeta wants to face the side of Kakarotto within you."
(Vegetto): "If I don't face Broly, and I find myself against you... I'll forfeit."
(Buu): "You would never."
(Vegetto): "Obviously, you don't know me as well as you think. Vegetto is much more different than just having Vegeta and Kakarotto together," replied the Saiyan.

Vegetto stood backup, ready to go. He took two to three steps and turned his head slightly.

(Vegetto): "I want to fight Broly in the first round... That still leaves you time to think. See ya!"

Vegetto returned to his room, leaving Buu in the same place to consider his proposal. As he walked, he smiled. He knew that Buu could cheat to fight whoever he wanted. But what the fused warrior may never know is that Universe 18's Goku had done the exact same thing to be able to fight Uub in the first round of the Tenkaichi Budokai, ten years earlier.

[DBM Novelization: Chapter 106]
Vegetto had found an asteroid cluster drifting slowly in the endless void of space. He stood on the largest among them and threw wild ki blasts at the smaller ones, destroying each without hesitation. Surrounded by total intense blackness, only the light from his attacks shone in the darkness and reflected upon his body and eyes. His look was volotile, furious; his teeth were bared.

(Vegetto): "Damn it! Such a great opportunity squandered by a treacherous magician! And worse..."

Vegetto contained himself, but only for a second, the calm before the storm. He exploded in anger, becoming a Super Saiyan 2. In this universe without life or light, he blazed like the sun.

(Vegetto): "I wanted to punch Gohan so bad!! Even though he was right, I wanted to smash his skull!!"

Within seconds, all the asteroids around had been reduced to nothing but dust. All that remained was the single frozen rock he stood on. But having expended his frustration, he began to calm down.

This was not the first time he’d thrown a tantrum...occasionally they were even over trivial things! This time, his anger had been refocused onto Gohan, whom he wanted to fight so badly, to just take out his every frustration on him...to the point he’d even considered hurting Pan! Or even destroying the Earth! Afterwards, he felt deep remorse for even thinking such things...but even after all the years, those type of dark thoughts continued to pop up from time to time... Even though he’d never acted on any of them, it still made him ill at ease. He felt discomfort, distrust and anger against himself, and so he’d channel that Saiyan rage and release it in some remote area...a pattern he repeated tirelessly for years. But, for how much longer? So far, it wasn’t a real problem, as no harm had ever been done.

He just wanted, with everything in his being, to fight!

(Vegetto): "This frustration makes me like Bra...a wayward child unable to hide their own selfishness and anger. Oh well... at least Gohan is on good terms with the organizers. We can probably negotiate a few other matches. Or I can fight Buu here without their knowledge, surely he’d accept. I wonder if that Big Namek or Cell would agree to an outside match as well..."

Vegetto dropped out of his Super Saiyan 2 state and sat down on the asteroid.

(Vegetto): "Everything will be fine in the end...and I can still control myself perfectly after all."
(Vegetto is in denial, refusing to admit he has a problem with self control. If it were valid, he wouldn't lash out at all, even in private. He'd accept he can't always have what he wants, and that he's finite in what he's capable of.)

Vegetto recalled his discussion with the Chief Nameks. He had dared to reveal a few of his fears to them at that point in time. One such fear was that if he had a child, they might become more powerful than him and possibly fall prey to their Saiyan nature. A child like that could create chaos in the entire universe and be unstoppable, even by their father. Another of his secret fears was that one day he might drop everything and just destroy the universe—because of boredom, no challenges remaining, particularly there not being an opponent of his level.

Indeed, his daughter Bra had become very strong, and her Saiyan nature had caused Vegetto to fear many times now. At Super Saiyan 2, she was completely out of control and even stronger than Gohan! In her madness, she might destroy everything...

And that went equally for himself, if driven to such lengths by frustration...

(Vegetto): "Huh... I need to breathe."

(After Vegetto is convinced he will get what he wants, he eventually calms down. Regardless of the tournament, he'd get the fight he's been wanting, as he feels Gohan has deprived him of that pleasure for the last 20 years, never understanding his son's family values. He'd gotten in his way again, and it only furthered the resentment and anger his father felt towards him. With Buu to play with, he could side-step Gohan and indulge himself freely. With himself reassured, his desires all but guaranteed to be satisfied, there was no reason to be upset anymore. It was time to go back to the arena.)

[img] [img] [img] [img]
(Buu is Vegetto's golden goose. Since he knows that, his interests are aligned with Buu remaining here, thus he vouches for him wholeheartedly. In reality, he's vouching for himself, because it's about him getting what he wants, not about Buu's standing or well-being. Buu being forgiven and allowed to remain in the same universe as Vegetto is just the most convenient path towards that end, nothing more.)

[img] [img] [img]

[DBM Novelization: Chapter 138]
In front of him, Vegetto also transformed to level one. Both fighters took a fighting stance, unaware that on a nearby asteroid a tiny black eye with a small pink puddle was watching their every move closely. Oh yes, this fight was going to be exciting!

[DBM Novelization: Chapter 139]
(Ginyu): “What a boast!” Ginyu laughed. “Careful not to choke on your modesty, Saiyan! You actually think in a multiverse of infinite possibilities that there’s no-one in the billions of countless universes as good as you? Another Broly with even more power than the one you fought here, or a Vegetto that has a transformation beyond even yours? There could be a version of Cell capable of destroying galaxies with a sneeze! You’re so pretentious you won’t even acknowledge the possibility — such an irritating defect you Saiyans all possess.”

(Vegetto): “Yet you took to that fault like a fish to water,” Vegetto replied, hardening his gaze. “Right now you’re blinded by power, a power that doesn’t belong to you. You think you’re something special, but you’re not able to tap into Bra’s true strength. That requires a harmony of body and mind that you’ll never have.”

(Ginyu): “Is that so? And what would you know about it?” Ginyu paused, wiping a stream of blood from the corner of his lip.

(Vegetto): “Years ago you switched bodies with Son Goku, one of the Saiyans I’m comprised of. You thought you’d turn the tables with his power, but his soul was too pure and you could barely use a tenth of his true strength — and that’s with you gradually getting used to it. Try and power up all you like, even with Super Saiyan you’re still nothing compared to what my daughter can really do. And remember this, not even she can stand up to me, so what chance do you have? Give up.”

(Ginyu): “Is that what you think?” Ginyu exclaimed, sneering. “Then allow me to correct your faulty assumptions, and I’ll simplify it so your primitive brain can understand. My technique works on two fronts: first, how I adapt to the body and second the host’s good-heartedness. I’ve spent the past thirty years changing from body to body, getting used to various levels of power, all maneuvering myself into position to take over as King Cold. The Frost Demons have enormous power, on a galactic scale. The patriarch in particular had to make use of several restriction forms in order to properly control his incredible strength. But as a true master of martial arts I was immediately able to tame the emperor’s true power. I could remain in his original form without difficulty from the start, and in the decades that followed I pushed his body to its limits and beyond, becoming more Cold than he’d ever been. So you see, handling dormant power is my specialty — I make a better version of anyone!” Ginyu chuckled. “As for the body of your daughter, she’s far from being kind-hearted, just as arrogant as her father, really. Nobody gets to be this strong without losing their innocence, that doesn’t exist! I wonder what kind of power I’d get from taking the body of that Son Goku now, ha ha ha!”

Vegetto could sense Ginyu wasn’t all talk.

(Ginyu): “So, I suppose it’s time to prove to you that this body truly belongs to me now. I’m more worthy of it that your unbearable child will ever be!”

With those words, Ginyu suddenly exploded with the power of Super Saiyan 2, Bra’s uncontrollable energy having been inexplicably mastered. Vegetto had been silent during the captain’s speech, reluctantly admitting the truth. And now there was proof, the commando reaching a level even his daughter had failed at, and with perfected control at maximum power.

Back in the arena, Buu whistled with admiration, which Grand Kaioshin mistook for a reaction to the current match. But the Majin was far more interested in the fight taking place out in the reaches of space.

(Buu): “Not bad, the girl’s got some real power when it’s mastered!” he thought inwardly. “Gohan would’ve struggled against her back at level one, but he’s way outclassed at this point!”

[img] [img]

Ginyu was hurled out into space, spinning wildly and out of control until he finally smashed into the exact piece of rock from which Buu had been watching. The latter’s eyes went wide as he decomposed into a blackish liquid, Ginyu pulverizing the location his eyeball had been two seconds earlier. The Djinn, well aware of Vegetto’s insane acuity, transformed the liquid into a puddle of mercury before fading away — nothing out of the ordinary in space. It was certainly preferable to a gelatinous pink pond that would’ve immediately unmasked him.

[img] [img]

(It's to be noted here that Vegetto does not and will not take "no" for an answer, when it comes to getting his way. He's clearly stated there is no defying him, as he is capable of inflicting terror and pain unto those who would dare get in his way. Violence is the language he speaks most fluently, and will resort to such when his stake in the outcome goes sour. He's not a diplomat, and has a severely lacking set of social skills. He's used power and intimidation to brute force others into giving him what he wants, thus has very little actual practice in healthy communication and even lacks a fundamental understanding of his own or other people's feelings. He's neglected his own emotional and mental health, as well as his family's. You have to allow yourself to be vulnerable, in order to receive help and healing from others. This is something Vegetto just will not allow, even though it's the only way to actually solve his problems. This was passed onto his daughter, as she both followed and was essentially forced into his example by his expectations and aloofness in family matters. He most likely has never ever praised or encouraged her in regard to anything beyond combat and technique, which is very tragic as well as the reason she has such poor social skills and broad insecurities just like him. It's also why she has nothing to offer, besides violence and contempt, as you've seen when she was in over her head confronting Bra of universe 18. This is why Universe 18 is strikingly different, as they've been ironing out their own flaws and gained a much more well-rounded and sound social foundation, as seen with Vegeta and his daughter from universe 18. They seek to work in harmony with all their loved ones, not do everything on their own and discard any chance of bettering themselves, as seen in the incredibly fragmented universe 16. The pen is mightier than the sword, as strength is nothing more than a tool to achieve something. Strength will not love you, it will not heal you, and it certainly will not make you happy by itself. If you believe strength and violence to be the be-all-end-all of all your problems, you will end up living an incredibly miserable and lonely existence, just like Vegeta of universe 13, Vegetto and his daughter from universe 16, Raichi of universe 3, Piccolo Daimo of universe 3, Androids 17 and 18 of universe 14, Cell of universe 17, and Broly of universe 20. Happiness does not come from conflict or power, but from acceptance that you cannot possibly live up to the impossible concept of perfection. Seeking to surrender to reality about your weaknesses, accepting that it's okay to have weaknesses, and being unafraid to admit or confront them. Allowing others in, to help you fill in the gaps that leave you desiring. This is why universe 18 is so successful, while universe 16 is a massive failure in contrast. Universe 18 confronted their problems, while universe 16 only ever ran away from them by trying to outsmart the truth through intimidation.)

[DBM Novelization: Chapter 118]
Buu left the boy’s room, next visiting the young prodigy from universe 18, a boy that possessed greater potential than he even knew himself — a reincarnation of pure destructive power. Arriving near him, Buu watched the boy attentively. Upon getting close, he could immediately sense his own presence inside of him, ‘a share of Buu’ per say. But that remnant had been from Buu’s original form, Kid Buu, an uncontrolled and unintelligent version. It was only thanks to his intelligence that Buu of universe 4 had become aware of what he once was and was quite glad that he had prevented Vegeta from detaching the cocoon that held fat Buu when he and Goku had snuck inside of him. Devolving into his most primitive form was undoubtedly the djinn’s worst nightmare, as he had lost all appreciation for what the universe had to offer — pleasures, struggles, experiences, even life. Fortunately, this young man, Uub, was opposite the horror of Kid Buu in every way, indeed all ways except his potential for destructive power. In fact, he seemed to even possess a strong moral fortitude towards justice and peace. Thus, the djinn had taken quite a liking to the boy, and planned to personally instruct him in how to use many of his latent powers, abilities unique and inherent to the Majin. After all, being a reincarnation, he undoubtedly had the potential faculties inside of him.

(It is to be noted with emphasis here that Buu's greatest fear is devolving into his most primitive form, Kid Buu. He had threatened to reduce Cell to his imperfect form, after he had ensnared almost all the universes in a follow-up of Vegetto's defeat in the novelization. It's undoubtedly true that magic can have this effect on himself too, whether direct or indirect.)

[DBM Novelization: Chapter 119]
(Buu): “And now, XXI, the mystery of universe five. No need to approach Gast, obviously. But this magician really arouses my curiosity. He managed to disqualify Vegetto, and I couldn’t hear the incantations he spoke at all. I wonder what I’m about to discover.”
(Grand Kaioshin): "Be careful," a voice suddenly spoke into his head, one Buu recognized as belonging to the Great Kaiô Shin. "I’ve got a bad feeling about this. Vegetto is indeed someone not to be taken lightly, but this XXI is equally intriguing—and from what I managed to hear from Old Kai in the 9th Universe, there’s a being of the same name from his universe that was a real pitless monster. It’s doubtful that these two have no connection, so investigate carefully."
(Buu): “Don’t worry,” Buu replied. “I’ll be as discreet as possible, and try to learn as much as I can.”

He stood at the door, analyzing it and trying to sense what was just beyond. From the outside, he felt nothing at all, neither hostile nor anything special. Slowly, he crossed the threshold, stopping abruptly just on the other side. He was stunned, taking in the sight before his eyes.

It wasn’t even a room anymore, or anything resembling one. There were no walls, floor, or furniture, only a vast white space like in the Room of Spirit and Time. Yet, there was also a cloud of thick black smoke present a few meters in front of him. The Djinn couldn’t recognize what or who was inside the dark gases, but the smoke was clearly not natural and he couldn’t say what it was made of.

Back in the universe 1 apartments, Buu’s ball began to suddenly tremble and shake—Grand Kaiô Shin’s arm swung with it.

(East Kaioshin): “What’s happening?” East Kaioshin panicked. “Is he trying to free himself? I’ll go and warn the Vargas!”
(Grand Kaioshin): “No, everything’s fine,” Grand Kaioshin replied, bracing with his other hand. “He just sneezed, that’s all,” he said, motioning to the pink prisoner.
(Buu): “Oh...er...yes, please excuse me,” Buu said, his voice uncertain.

East Kaioshin narrowed his eyes, unconvinced, but said nothing.
Telepathically, Great Kaiô Shin then spoke to the Djinn.

(Grand Kaioshin): “What is it? What happened?”
(Buu): “This...this guy...” Buu replied. “Whatever IT is...it’s clearly not normal. Not only had the entire apartment disappeared as if it had been sucked into outer space, but there are two beings present, and neither resembles the old man we’ve been seeing! As soon as I saw them, one attacked—disintegrating me completely, down to the smallest cell. Before now, only Vegetto was capable of that! I wouldn’t say necessarily that this person, if it is a person, is more powerful than myself or Vegetto, but...his attack was fully effective, and the energy level was very high. This is definitely something to worry about.”
(Grand Kaioshin): “Hmmm,” the Grand Kaioshin thought. “This is indeed disturbing. Will you be able to return tomorrow night and try to learn more? We must make sure the security of the arena is not threatened, and find out both the identity of those two characters and what they are up to.”
(Buu): “I’ll do it,” Buu replied, “but I’m sure they’ll be prepared for me if I try again. It could get complicated. But, the main part of my work has been accomplished, and the fights we’ll see tomorrow should be beautiful entertainment!”

(This creature has a very broad capacity for magic, and its own set of likely weakened, repurposed or otherwise inferior dragon balls. It has access to potentially all the information it could ever need about anyone or anything, although the scope of answerable questions remains unknown. If this creature's apartment operates on the same laws as the room of spirit and time (The room is stark white, just like it), it has far and away an insurmountable advantage as far as preparation time, able to ask possibly 12 questions per day, which is an entire year from its perspective. This would give it more than enough resources to learn about its opponents or threats, identify vulnerabilities, and develop new spells or other means to exploit them in an incredibly short amount of (relative) time. It holds zero interest in the tournament, or anyone present at the event, with the only exception being those whom are obstacles in its path. The being is single minded, and willing to go all the way in order to access the power provided by the wish granting dragon balls. Make no mistake, this creature is not here for the same purpose as anyone else, and thus will not engage in combat out of joy or hubris. The tournament is a means to an end, and it will not play games, with anyone or anything.)

[DBM Novelizartion: Chapter 127]
Nearby, hovering over the palm of Grand Kaioshin, Buu began to whistle inconspicuously. He might have magically restored 17’s power as well, had he known at the time. It would’ve been no trouble, he just hadn’t seen the point. Besides, the djinn had been far too preoccupied with XXI — repairing 18 had been a necessity in order to motive the wizard to reveal himself.

[DBM Novelization: Chapter 131]
The old man that had defeated Vegetto flew silently into the ring, his face as indecipherable as an ancient tome. A close observer might’ve also noticed he kept his hands deep within his baggy sleeves. Yamcha had a bad feeling about it, and even #17 was uncomfortable eyeing such a mystifying character.

(Yamcha): “Well,” Yamcha began, his tone extremely serious. “He’s a magician, deceit and trickery are his allies. If you want to win, you’ll have to strike first — and I’m talking immediately, the millisecond you touch the ring. Otherwise he’ll just send you to another dimension like did with Vegetto. You’ve gotta be faster than you’ve ever been.”
(Android 18): “Leave me alone,” Eighteen rolled her eyes sharply. “Nobody tells me what to do!”
(Yamcha): “Then just be careful,” Yamcha finished, annoyed.
(Android 17): “You know, sis,” #17 conceded after the unwanted guest finally left, “it’s the right strategy. I know what you’re thinking, I feel the same way, but... if it were me I’d do what he said.”
(Android 18): “I know,” his sister growled as she climbed the low wall, annoying the Varga in their area. “Just shut up, I didn’t ask for either of your advice.”

Without giving her brother time for another quip, she flew off, tapping the wall as she passed. She charged the wizard immediately, whose face remained inexpressive. The Vargas took note that she hadn’t yet touched the arena, paying close attention. When she was but a few feet from the old magician, #18 tapped the ground, renewing her momentum and throwing her attack. With her fist fully extended, it took only a millisecond for her to reach him. She felt no magic affecting her — Eighteen smiled with confidence, believing she would succeed where that super powerful Saiyan had failed! She was only a meter away, hearing her brother’s shouts of encouragement, when...

Nothing. Like a light going out without warning, her vision suddenly faded, as did the spark of life that burned inside her. At that last moment of consciousness, just as she felt the energy exiting her limbs, she stared up into the wizard’s eyes, barely ajar. From a distance, no one else could really see them clearly, but she was up close. They were nightmarish, an intense abyssal blackness staring down at her. Her last emotion was an unimaginable terror, and as her consciousness escaped her, #18 collapsed.

Those present in the grandstands, spectators and participants alike, only saw her body fall suddenly on the ground — it was assumed the gravity had been the cause, immobilizing her the instant it took full effect. The young woman’s inert form lay still in front of the magician, pupils empty. He hadn’t even spoken a word, Buu and Gast were certain of it, and both were quite shocked.

(Yamcha and Android 17): “Wait, what?” Yamcha and #17 exclaimed simultaneously.
(Yamcha): “That can’t be it...” Yamcha continued, stunned.
(Android 17): “Eighteen!” her brother yelled. “Don’t be stupid, get up! He hasn’t even done anything yet!”

A laugh interrupted him, an almost silent cackle barely above a whisper, and yet it reached his ears as if carried on the wind. It was a sordid and pretentious sneer, one that sent shivers down his spine. XXI then uttered a few words, each tinged with a certain dark melody, ironic and cruel — like a requiem whispered in dramatic fashion.

(XXI): “Fortunately I kept the button pressed...”

Over on the Kaioshin balcony, Buu and the Grand Kaioshin were in full agreement. This magician represented a mystery that needed illuminating quickly, and the consequences of not solving this puzzle could lead the tournament to disaster at any moment.

[DBM Novelization: Chapter 134]
(The narrator's comment about Buu's standing, while fighting Gotenks.)

Nothing came close to him in power, his only remaining skill left to master was magic. In that regard, XXI posed a legitimate threat to him, whereas Gotenks was utterly inferior.

(This is why Buu is trying to probe XXI for information at any and every possible opportunity. Buu is uncertain and even intimidated by the absoluteness and unknown threat caliber of this creature. It is a magician, much like himself. If we know anything about Buu, it's that he himself is most vulnerable to magic. Because of this force of universe 5, Buu is at very great risk as far as his safety and standing.)

[DBM Novelization: Chapter 135]
Back in a room in the Universe 14 apartments, Yamcha was examining #18 carefully. Her twin had been acting strangely, which Yamcha ignored, assuming he was just angry and needed to be left alone. Raising the young woman’s hand, he confirmed with anger that she was truly dead. The cyborg’s lifeforce had been completely extinguished, and yet her face was still frozen in that expression of intense terror. She’d seen something, Yamcha was sure of it — something utterly horrifying in the magician. In fact, it mirrored the panic that Elder Kai had shown when he’d first heard XXI’s name announced.

(Yamcha): “You know, perhaps I should take her back to our apartments,” he murmured aloud. “The Old Kaioshin might know some way to revive her, and I’ve got to ask him more about that trickster anyway. But, I shouldn’t leave her brother alone, not in the condition he’s in — plus, he probably wouldn’t let me take her. What should I do?”

He held #18 in his arms, deep in thought. His priority was to somehow revive her, and he made a promise to at the very least protect her no matter what.

[DBM Novelization: Chapter 147]
(This is during the majin revolution attempt)

Yamcha had returned as well, having delivered #18’s body back to her apartment — where he’d left her safely on the bed, next to her brother. The human-cyborg planned to talk to the Kaioshin once he’d finished the ritual, particularly about this XXI. The old wizard was intriguing, but more than that made him feel uncomfortable. The deity had been startled by the name XXI earlier, and though he said it was a case of mistaken identity, Yamcha still wanted to ask for details about the XXI to which Old Kai had been thinking.

Meanwhile, in universe 11...

A soldier cautiously approached the door leading to the Universe 5 apartments...

Babidi watched carefully from his crystal ball, quite concerned with the other wizard — who momentarily was hidden within the refuge. Though there’d been no sign of the old magician for quite some time, he was no doubt still inside, and dangerous. Babidi definitely didn’t want XXI casting any spells that might go against his own.

The soldier, suspicious and hesitant, was nonetheless compelled by his master to investigate. But the instant his hand touched the door-handle the majin was seized by violent tremors. A wave of pain bolted through him, but he was unable to cry out — his very skin became scarlet as if set aflame by purple sparks. Then, in a second, he disintegrated to a pile of ash.

Babidi’s already yellow face turned quite pale, impressed and a bit intimidated by the spell guarding the entryway. The mysterious wizard had indeed made it impossible for anyone to enter his apartment. After a moment of waiting to see if XXI would show himself, Babidi used his better judgment and decided to leave well enough alone. The threat presented by a possibly superior magician was far too great a risk to his plans. And besides, he still had plenty of fighters left that were resisting him as it was — he needed to take control of all the Universes before some disruptive element came along and put a stop to all his efforts.

[Future of DBM]
Taking into account everything we have gathered here, the trend shows Vegetto's most vulnerable to losing his self control when denied the challenge he wants. In the Novelization, he manipulated Buu into arranging his fight with Broly of universe 20, threatening the majin that if he wasn't the one to fight Broly, he'd forfeit if he found himself against Buu (most likely a bluff, as we've seen he isn't ever the type to reject a challenge, let alone his first in 20 years since he was born). Buu himself is very powerful, highly resourceful, and unquestionably intelligent. However, he is by no means invulnerable or incapable of being outwitted. We've seen very clearly that he is practically naked in defense to magic that he has no understanding of, as shown when he was subdued by force by Gast Carcolh. We've also seen that Buu is very wary of powerful magicians. In regards to Babidi, he understood that he can be easily subverted and his magic nullified if he is gagged and cannot speak. Buu does not by any stretch have any confidence in himself when it comes to facing Gast, refusing to even consider paying him a visit during his escapades. Even less than Gast, Buu's confidence is more or less all but lost in regards to XXI. We've seen how XXI exploits the vulnerabilities of others, with unflinching precision. We know XXI can gather all the information he needs on someone, especially if his question is very broad in regards to the supposed dragon he summons within his apartment. Buu has no choice but to face this... thing, in his next fight. We've seen what it's capable of so far, so it wouldn't be a stretch to say Buu could be in legitimate danger. Since XXI's M.O. is to do away with threats in as little time as possible, it would suffice to say that every cocoon within Buu could be vaporized in an instant, or an unknown spell cast on him. As he begins to shriek in pain, he'd gradually be reduced to his original form. Unintelligent, unable to anticipate or remain a threat to XXI, helpless. At this point, he very well could be disintegrated or sealed away, ending the fight and Zen Buu's very existence. Remember what I said before, that Buu is Vegetto's golden goose and it's in his interest to protect him. Having lost Buu, his most prized challenge, this is going to make him unbelievably upset. The only reason he's been staying calm (aside from Ginyu) since he lost, is because he has off-the-books fights planned with Buu. He will likely demand Buu be restored in an outrage.

(Vegetto): Restore him! Bring him back, now!
(Gohan): Dad, they played by the rules, you have no business interfering. Besides, Buu was incredibly dangerous to every universe here. We're better off now that he's gone.

This may very well be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Gohan, the person he's been itching so badly to fight. The person whose wrath he's desired for over 20 years. The person who has shown to be able to outclass Goku and Vegeta in record time in combat and power, forever denying him the satisfaction of going toe-to-toe with such force. A prodigy, equaled only by his monumental disappointment in the eyes of someone who lives for nothing more than endless combat, someone who couldn't possibly understand how his family values exceed priority or relevance over his gifted talent for battle. Vegetto has had very dark impulses of harming Gohan's family to get what he wants by force, but has held off, electing to teleport away and unleash his violent impulses lightyears off in remote parts of the cosmos. Now that Buu was completely destroyed, gone, and his best chance at feeding his addiction to the thrill of battle was once again thwarted by that magician and his own son, it would be the last time.

(Vegetto) Grabs Gohan by the neck as a SSJ2, squeezing hard enough to force his son's protesting to a halt
(Vegetto): "I've been waiting my entire life for a challenge, and have been denied that release for over 20 years! No longer! Buu was my best chance, and I want him back!! I'll kill you all if I have to!!!

[Wrapping up]
So many of you have been obsessing endlessly, clinging to every possible moment or hint of frustration or hostility from Vegetto in order to try and predict the events of Bardock's vision. The reason this has gone on so long, is because nobody has put in the level of effort necessary to finally attempt to answer the question in a way that is satisfying enough to end or postpone the debate until after Buu's match with XXI. If you want answers as to why or how, there's a good chance many of them are in the story. You need to read everything, carefully. You have to pay attention to very subtle details, because this story is in it for the long-haul butterfly effect. It does not and will not appeal to those of you who want instant gratification. You need to put in the work and do a proper investigation yourself if you want to actually enjoy this story the way it's meant to be enjoyed. It's not a story that's going to make things absurdly obvious, like Dragonball Super. Dragonball Multiverse has more of the spirit of Hunter X Hunter with complexity, although not quite as vast. Overlooked details in Hunter X Hunter will cost you dearly when it comes to questions you want answered. The same goes for this story. If you don't know when, how or why something will happen, don't pretend you do. The first step to knowing anything, is accepting you know nothing. The second step is doing your own thorough investigation, in order to actually get the information you need from sources actually provided by the author. If you're too busy walking around looking at the stars, you're going to miss the pothole in the ground and fall in. Start on the ground, and work with what you have on a local level, instead of attempting to shoot way above your station. Don't make baseless speculations that clutter the mind and experience of the story. You'd be better off and happier if you'd stop trying to rush and get answers handed to you, and do your own careful research by reading the material already available, as well as understanding the build-up of events over the long-term. There are some events we simply do not have enough evidence or context to speculate on, such as Yamcha asking if he's the strongest in all the universes, Gohan holding a half dragon ball to deny someone a wish, and Piccolo stating only his will keeps U16 Bra and U18 Vegeta alive. Since we don't have enough leads to go on, or we've overlooked valuable details from earlier in the story, we have no business fruitlessly speculating on them. If there's nothing to work with, there's nothing to work with. Accept that limitation and let's put our focus on things we actually can attempt to answer, backed by empirical data the way I've laid out here for all of you. If you don't have time to attempt to answer your own questions in this manner, you don't have time to complain or endlessly speculate, which is going to cost you far more time in the long-term. So many of you have beaten this horse to death, and then to mush. It's past time to move on and stop trying to be some sort of mystic fortune teller, trying to snatch the glory and self satisfaction of correctly predicting the future. You have nothing to show for it, besides a brief temporary dopamine rush and then withdrawal, like you get with gambling, which is actually what you're attempting when you do this. Questions like these take a long time to answer, and that's completely okay. If you don't have a solid argument you've thoroughly vetted, then you'd be wise to refrain from posting it until you've verified the authenticity and established probable cause for your case. Post quality comments, and you'll find that you'll be posting far less while also potentially learning far more. The less junk, the better for us all. We can actually get into some constructive and productive conversations if you provide context in human-readable format and test that your claim holds water, rather than going in endless circles over matters that can be resolved with patience, or research, or both.
