Was honestly not expecting this. But it's made me a lot more interested in seeing what the U16 special shows us about Vegetto's apparent dark-side and how things have gone somewhat wrong in the U16 reality.

My personal theory regarding this page, and I might be completely wrong - giving Vegetto to much credit, is that this flashback is one small part of larger scene and this is happening right after Son Bra lost it and went into a Super Saiyan 2 rampage. We know that Bra going SS2 even without Babidi pulling her strings is bad, Gohan twice during dire situations (the space battle with Zen Buu and later Zen Buu attacking everyone) has vehemently told Bra to not use SS2 for fear of the consequences. We have heard multiple times that Vegetto is the only one who can stop Bra when she's destroying things in a blind rage (Vegetto when fighting Ginyu-Bra claims he has been keeping Bra from lashing out for years, U16!Gohan remarks that Bra has lost control many times in the past but they always had Vegetto around to stop her). I think this portion of a scene is where a very unhealthy dynamic started centred on Bra's inability to control SS2.

What I think the complete conversation may have looked like is -

Vegetto: "You can't control yourself at Level 2, you are a danger to everyone around when you transform into that state and right now I'm the only person who can stop you when you lose it. You can do this at age 10, what are you going to be capable of in 20 or 30 years? If level 2 makes you lose it this badly what's Level 3 going to be like?"

"Listen to me, I'm still much stronger than you but one day you will surpass me. So before that day arrives I. Will. Kill. You. Unless you can overcome whatever flaw in your power and mind is making these rampages happen. I can't allow someone so out of control to grow strong than me and so become beyond my ability to stop. You could destroy the entire universe if things got to that point. So you are going to train everyday until you get control of your power understand me or else this can end only one way."

Semi-valid concerns but expressed in the worst way due to Saiyan lack of empathy and Vegeta & Goku's canon problems with parenting. If my take is correct Vegetto really hoped that this threat would motivate Bra to push until she got control over Level 2 but I think it had the opposite effect and feed into Bra's less than healthy mindset.

Grand Supreme Kai specifically describes Majin Bra to herself as a "slave to your fears" rather than the complete in body and soul warrior Bra normally aspires to be. I think the fear he was talking about is that Bra has after years of frustrating not successful efforts to control SS2 (and isn't it funny that the U16 Piccolo specifically claimed that part of what Babidi got a hold in Bra was years of frustration ..... ) begun to fear that her power is fundamentally uncontrollable and that sooner or later Vegetto is going to kill her once he comes to same conclusion.

So Bra trains and pushes herself ever forward to the exclusion of everything else, and is constantly running head first into the wall of SS2 which feeds off and fills this boiling well of frustration inside her and deep down this ongoing failure scares her because it's been years and she still can't control level 2 and Vegetto has to see her becoming stronger how long will it be until he decides she's to dangerous to be left alive?

Within this paradigm Majin Bra is I think a representation of Bra on some level just...... giving up. It's symbolic of her deciding that she can't control SS2 on her own and so she submit's to Babidi's control because he lets her use the transformation without snapping. Of course this bypass comes at the cost of her empathy and better impulses so the result is arguably worse than a normal SS2 - BRA SMASH! rampage which works as point.

Embracing evil is a hollow thing that isn't glorious or fulfilling for all that Bra caught up in the rush of finally using SS2 can't see that until U18!Bra screams it in her face, hell it just makes the underlying issue that much worse becuase if Bra was worried Vegetto thinking she might have to be killed for the greater good before, well how much worse is that going to be in the aftermath of Majin Bra's slaughter spree?

I mean my take on this gives Vegetto some good qualities (he's trying to get Bra to overcome a dangerous flaw and is worried about the safety of the wider universe) but if this is what's going on then he is still being a seriously bad parent, because tryng to motivate your child by threatening to murder them is not a healthy choice and it fundamentally made things worse - primed the pump for Majin Bra exploding into existence and murdering her way through the cast.

Honestly I ''can'' understand why some people are unhappy with this development but I am not among them. Well mostly, the art is stunning and this makes a certain degree of sense within the mental framework I've built up for Bra.

My perception of Majin Bra is that her psychology post Babidi is all about the rush of power and the unhinged freedom of existing without imposed by other's morals. She's caught up in that surge - high and running in her ego fantasy. Appeals to her better nature don't work because she twists any kind of positive comment around to feed her ego.

"Aren't you a proud saiyan?"
"Oh I am, the person I was before this wasn't, I was held back my fear of being judged and the mission to protect people that I didn't believe in but now I am the most saiyan, saiyan that ever saiyan'd."

"Your stronger than this!"
"Oh I am strong, stronger than ever now that I can control this form."

"I thought you aimed higher, didn't you want to be a complete fighter body and soul not a slave to your fears?"
"SHUT UP PUNY GOD! I AM NUMBER ONE! I AM IN CONTROL, I AM COMPLETE!"

U18!Bra hits a nerve and keeps digging through because she's not appealing to any goodness in U16!Bra. She's condemning her for being weak and worthless, saying that this power-control Majin Bra values so much doesn't matter. She attacks the idea that Majin Bra has become great through embracing her evil when in reality she's "literally a slave to a worm" and nothing U16!Bra shouts can change that reality.

The irony is that if U18!Bra could transform, could fight in any physical way then U16!Bra would have killed her on the spot and not changed at all, because U16!Bra is all about how much better she has to be than anyone and everyone (ignore Vegetto or atleast try to though Bra hasn't managed that yet).But U18!Bra hurt her with words so she had try to do the same back to prove that she is better, hence teleport'ing into her counterparts face and trying to trash talk U18!Bra's weakness - lack of skill which just doesn't work.

It's telling I think that when U16!Bra is flashing back to everything people have said about her Majin state what starts her really unraveling and open's the flood gates of doubt is the realization that with his last breath her Gohan was saying Babidi is stronger than her. She's isn't mourning killing her own brother, atleast not at first, she's coming undone in the face of a truth that she can't deny or forget in the rush-now of combat and the surge of her new power anymore, that she's not in control of her own soul, that she's weaker than Babidi.

So yes this breakdown makes a certain amount of sense to me.

I'm actually really curious about where this goes now. As I noted earlier the appeal of Majin Bra to me has always been in the aftermath, how does U16!Bra deal with what she's done? what does this change about her mental state? Becuase she killed her family-friends and good people in this rampage and even with Dragon Ball to bring them back I can't see anyone really forgetting the fact she went of the reservation like this, or the fact she showed zero interest in fighting back against Babidi's control until her U18 stabbed her right in the self-worth, even when it was Gohan's blood on her hands.

Based on the provided date for the next two part special (cautiously interested about that though personally I would have liked a special about either Gast fighting his universes Majin Buu or Babidi vs the Z fighters showing how he won) we have two, maybe three pages left in this chapter. I'm quite interested in what happens in those pages, Zen Buu dropping in with Babidi in tow? The displaced contestants coming back and staring at the wreckage left by Majin Bra? A not truly dead Cell and/or U18!Gohan attacking Majin Bra while her guards down? The suspense is killing me.

So in my opinion you both did impressive work @Asura and @Salagir with this narrative. I remain interested in what you have in store for us next.

Welp that was certainly a way to welcome us back to the Majin Bra rampage, and instantly remind readers of her massive power and lethal talent.

Given Gohan's strong feelings about Piccolo and his tendency to explode in rage when pushed to far, I'm guessing he snaps and charges Majin Bra next page giving mini-cell enough time to get a Sensu bean to Perfect Cell. The opening page and the surprise appearance of Zen Buu on the first page makes me think this going to end with Majin Bra getting absorbed by Zen Buu possibly after the heroes manage to pull some kind of win against her and the Ultimate Buu decides that he's gotten a good enough show out of this.

I'm pretty sure Cell is going to come back into the fight in a big way and either be the one who beats Majin Bra or at least be a direct part of how she goes down. Cell's been consistently a foil - problem for Majin Bra in this fight since the start. He managed to punch through her shield and take an arm off, his mini-Cell's acting as support teleporters have kept the two Gohan's in the fight either by getting them in place to be fed Sensu Beans or pulling them out of deep space where Bra teleport-ed them. The allies he deliberately left alive have been a issue for her and he adapted to her tactics the fastest something both Bra and Gohan commented on.

So yeah my money's on this is building up for Cell to be the one who takes down Majin Bra.

Well this an unexpected development. Makes sense given the ease with Majin Bra could deal major damage to the Gohan's and U!16 Gohan having a breakdown in the face of this seemingly unwinnable battle.

It's a pretty effective way to show that Majin Bra is well and truly off the deep end of evil by having her brutally kill (while smiling) "her" Gohan, who we must remember was one of the few people Bra in her non Majin crazed state of mind respected - truly liked.

I for one am curious both how the fight is going to go now (because Majin Bra is wrecking everyone and she just took down one of the few people who could under the right circumstances meaningfully hurt her) and what the repercussions for Bra after the Majin crisis will be.

We've seen from Baddack future visions that Bra isn't staying a Majin forever and we know Babidi isn't going to win long term, that presents the question of what Bra's mental state will be after once this ends and she's either killed or Babidi is slain and the magic ends. Bra's pretty consistently coded - been shown to have a intense dark side and mass of issues under the surface (her fits of destructive rage, her behavior as a child as shown in her Special, Ginyu being able to use her power fully because she is not pure of heart and her general attitude).

Babidi's magic brought this darkness to destructive life and as Gohan mentioned the wizard has suppressed the better parts of her psyche but Babidi didn't create that evil just manipulated and remove the checks on it. So what is Bra in a non Majin crazed state of mind going to feel about her rampage once all is said and done? Majin Bra is specifically noted as enjoying her state - and being actually subservient to Babidi notably contrasting Vegeta and Cell in the same situation. In this state she's killed others, most importantly for a non crazed Bra her own half brother who again she actually cares about.

What is this going to do to Bra's characterization? Is she going to reexamine her life- mentality and start the path towards developing into a healthier person or is she going to want to return to the "pure" state of being a Majin where she doesn't have to care about others? I guess what I'm wondering about is whether Bra is going to end up on the hero or villain side of things once the dust settles?

I'm really curious about the answer to those questions.

I don't think so, I could be wrong but the framing of this page makes it appear to me that Majin Bra is cursing Gohan - Phipsil (helped by the fact her hand is broken) and she doesn't notice the the oncoming Kamehameha wave until the last second when it's to late to teleport out of the way.



You did! I wonder how much damage from this Majin Bra will take. Yes she's stronger than Mystic Gohan even at 100% true but taking a high powered Kamehameha hit directly seems like it should do some real damage.

Then there is Majin Buu, Cell and the other Mystic Gohan to consider who could very well strike at her once the blast fades. I suspect Bra isn't going to be having a good time for the immediate future.
