I started hearing Kakarotto's words in the voice of Team Four Star's Nappa. Now I can't un-hear it.

"Hey Ve-GEEE-tah, that guy seems rEAlly strong, huh?"

Vegetas: best when partnered with imbeciles.

On a separate note, I find myself wondering how Vegeta manages to still be stronger than Kakarotto - or, for that matter, how OG Goku manages to maintain a lead over OG Vegeta. Every time one of them beats the other into the ground, shouldn't the Saiyan zenkai close the gap? Maybe we're assuming the strictest possible version of the zenkai, where it literally only activates at near death, and only when a much stronger foe is present?

This is an amazing fight full of twists and turns, new and fun applications of energy manipulation and a transformation that has been forshadowed for ages, while also making sense with the canon. And the art is better than it has ever been, every chapter it gets even more mindblowing.
I really don't get why people are complaining about it taking too long, they are just impatient to see who wins. I get that you have been waiting for a long time, I myself have been reading for 10 years but the end result is what really matters. Take as much time as you need, DBM team. You are doing amazing.

100% +1 absolutely this.

This art...exquisite.

We often lose sight of this in anime and manga, but real fights with evenly-matched opponents are almost always a toss-up. Vegeta doesn't have to be strictly "better" than Goku to win. If they're about evenly matched, it comes down to luck; a 50-50 chance of either one winning.

To my mind, logic and story pull in different directions here. I feel like Goku's got more experience in hand-to-hand fighting, and a bit more natural talent, which should give him an edge in this final melee throwdown. Goku's been fighting equal or better opponents hand-to-hand since Dragon Ball, whereas (I'm guessing here) Vegeta seemed to be among either overwhelmingly stronger or much weaker opponents for most of his life, and favors a more blast-focused style. He's clearly improved a lot since the days of beam-spamming wildly at Frieza, but I'd wager there's still a bit of an experience gap. As an audience member, my money would be on Goku, maybe 70% confidence.

On the other hand, after this much buildup, "Goku wins again" is a bit of a letdown, "they tie" would feel trite and silly, and Vegeta's demonstrated outstanding character growth and skill in this comic. For the first time literally ever, he's matched Goku not just in power but in wisdom and self-mastery. The Prince finally knows who he is. All things considered, I feel like Vegeta deserves the win and hope he pulls it off. 1 Resposta/es

I'll toss my own theory into the mix - I think the Vargas used the Dragon Balls to wish Buu back to his universe and/or otherwise duplicate the function of their machine. We haven't seen any indication of where they've kept the Dragon Balls yet, and it's possible even Buu hasn't figured out how to get to them. (Possibly they're being kept in another universe). It's unclear if the Dragon Balls can cross universal boundaries, but I bet the Vargas have a way to call in an emergency wish.

Dunno if anyone has called this out yet, but I have a Prediction: Arashi has weather control powers and is desperate. We know that some sort of ecological catastrophe devastated Namek before canon events. What if Arashi causes this catastrophe by triggering some kind of runaway destruction? 2 Resposta/es

You know, I really admire the thought and effort the authors have put into this story. Here we have a very clear trope subversion with a lot of foreshadowing. We know from the main series and from the earlier fights in this comic that Babidi's magic enhances not just the physical power and control of his minions, but also their mental focus and discipline. Bra, who may well have risen to the bait before succumbing to this magic, instead acts with the same ruthless efficiency as most of Babidi's slaves. But her fight also reinforces what we've seen before - that she's not just wildly powerful, she's also a superb tactician who knows how to use her abilities to the fullest.

Throughout this story, I've noticed exemplary writing and thoughtful scene-setting on par with many forms of explicitly "rational" fanfic. The authors ordered and selected fights to give interesting duels (Nail vs. Recoome), show character development (Vegeta vs. Vegeta, Pan vs. Kakarotto), and pack in downright awesome combat scenes (Vegetto vs. Broly). Throughout it all, they manage to keep artwork that looks even more DragonBall Z than the original (how much did they have to study Toriyama's work to get that degree of accuracy?!?) and introduce new characters and new twists on old ones that have believable backstories. Where the authors depart from the original or my own intuitions, they maintain consistency within the fiction. Even the mischievous meddling of a bored Zen Buu serves to make the fights more interesting.

I also have to applaud Bra as a character, and point out that she just might be the first female DragonBall character I've seen (outside of fanfic) who can reliably challenge and even defeat the male (and neuter-but-male-looking) characters of the series, without becoming quickly overshadowed by others. It's doubly impressive because it feels natural and unforced to me - Bra is exactly what you would expect from a child of Vegetto, male or female, who has absurd power and difficulty controlling it. She's also an excellent example of this fiction's emphasis on "brains over brawn" - or perhaps, "brains in addition to brawn" - in that she and many of the DBM characters really make the best of their abilities (Nail vs. Recoome and Krillin vs. Tapion again come to mind) to turn fights on their head.

The whole character ensemble shows some realistic use of powers and expansions upon the abilities in DBZ. Characters behave intelligently and believably throughout, within the limits of their own intelligence. The authors explore a lot of cool applications that DBZ doesn't really touch, and largely makes the powers and abilities more consistent and legible in the process. Despite my usual policy of never reading work that isn't finished, I keep coming back to this story because of its brilliance, its beauty, and its consistency with DBZ as a whole. I wish I could show it to my ten-year-old self; he'd likely go bananas with glee.
