Wow. I think Goku might have just killed Vegeta guys.
How do we think Vegito's going to feel about this? And what exactly happened here, Goku and Vegeta unlocked their potential the way Elder Kai did for Gohan?
Or maybe its just "Super Saiyan without transforming so all of the power at once?"
What are we gonna call this? Its stronger than Super Saiyan. 1 Resposta/es

Can we take a moment to appreciate DBM? No, seriously! Goku vs Vegeta is the ground where DBZ fundamentals were established. Salagir gets so much hateful comments about his writing ability and how he and DBM are just being carried by great artists. I made some hateful comments too in the Bra rampage. So now I want to take this opportunity to give my modest but very well deserved recognition to Salagir and the DBM team.
Salagir understands DBZ quite well and better than Toriyama himself.

I was with you right until you said this.
Yeah Salagir... you should probably hire this artist for the main comic.

I wonder why we're getting all of this interaction and commentary between the universes. I guess this is leading up to Gero having something to do with XXI (Twenty One), or some reveal related to him.
I think he's being arrogant.

Honestly Buu was always kind of a goofy and super unrealistic character to begin with, it's part of his charm whether he was a mindless beast (Kid Buu) or an intelligent godlike being.
I don't know if that makes it better though lol. His "charm" is everything that we dislike about Bra - he's overpowered, he's cocky, he's an invention of the author (Zen Buu is not canon Buu, strength-wise or personality-wise), he throws tantrums, he tries to get everyone on his side when he clearly doesn't deserve it, and the story had to come up with something fantastical just to keep him from killing all of the other characters.
But its okay because Buu was "always" like that? I respectfully disagree. If not for giving Zen Buu some humanizing characteristics - genuinely appreciating what the Grand Kai did for him - I'd find that the opposite of charming.

but right now there's a very transparent attempt at glorifying her for development without even having her lose the fight.
It's just not something you see in DB. That kind of heavy-handed praise doesn't feel natural.
I don't have an issue with how Bra behaves in this chapter, she's kind of boring but inoffensive.

I don't have an issue with how Bra behaves in this chapter, she's kind of boring but inoffensive.
It's not though? Its a pretty sincere attempt at showing that the character has developed by forfeiting a fight for someone else's sake. Mercy and emotional support between family and friends have been in DB since the early days.
Nobody's glorified Bra. The audience is disappointed. Pan's facial expression isn't clear, but she hasn't turned into a cheerleader. Gohan isn't someone who holds grudges nor is he an aggressive person to begin with and Bra is a family member. He's glad to see her doing something she probably wouldn't have done prior. I don't think its cheerleading, it's forgiveness.
I don't think its bad that her behavior is being forgiven without her "losing" the fight. She gave up. That's the point.
I think that's a lot more interesting than Bra just losing a fight. That wouldn't be character development unless she actually threw the fight and took the beating as some kind of penance. Then we'd be questioning her mental state if she were trying to "make amends" by getting pulverized just to pretend she wasn't able to win.
Actively thinking (instead of going ballistic as she was wont to do) and coming to the conclusion that she wouldn't be able to achieve her goals (helping Universe 19) is a positive development from her. 1 Resposta/es
I really think people should look at Bra in a different light now and stop thinking she's this poisonous Mary Sue character. Try to see this as "a character given Heel-like traits to make you dislike them but developed to see the error of their ways so that we can see them as a Face later."
I can forgive a character who does horrible things so long as others acknowledge she's done horrible things.
I think "bad writing" is a really weak complaint that doesn't actually explain the issues, and its just a way to drop hatred without being constructive. I see what Salagir was trying to do with Bra. It could have been better-written, but I honestly don't see this incessant dislike for the character others seem to have. I'm even thinking its a bit of a sexism issue with her being a bratty teenager who murders her own family vs Vegeta the hardened roguish badass who threatened to murder his family just so he could have a good fight.
Like, both things are forgivable in "anime terms." Obviously in real life someone like Bra or Vegeta would be pretty toxic. But at least in the heightened, cartoon reality of Dragonball its easier to accept them as sympathetic people. If you can forgive or even like Vegeta's character, you can like Bra's character. It's okay. It's also okay to not like her character. Just don't comment every week about how utterly awful and disappointed you are that she didn't get mutilated or assaulted.
I personally didn't care for Zen Buu that much until they expounded on his relationship with the Grand Kai. Prior to that he was a massively overpowered character LITERALLY throwing tantrums when he didn't get his way, and even his "defeats" were just him playing possum. He legit got stopped by Deus Ex Machina and was so powerful that even Vegito, canonically the most powerful character here, couldn't stop him. But nobody had a problem with that because he was funny and badass. Still, I'm not going to comment next week "thank god Buu is gone" or go "aw man Salagir's Majin Stu is back" if he does reenter the plot. I can see the narrative benefit of his teaching Uub and him and Grand Kai respecting each other without being aggravated that he's so powerful and cocky.
This probably won't stop or change anyone's mind, but I do at least appreciate seeing Bra's character come full circle from arrogant strong gal to thinking strong gal. 2 Resposta/es

I think this is pretty cool. I like that we're getting a battle in the mind. Reminds me of that fight from Sherlock Holmes Game of Shadows.
First, haven't commented in a while. Salagir and artists associated, I still lurk and enjoy this comic, especially when the tournament is happening and interactions like Bardock and Piccolo happen. Not a big fan of the Vargas but they add a little now and then. Creative fights like these are the highlight.
Second, I like the Sherlock Holmes-esque mental battle happening here. Took me a second to adjust when Gast finished his first prediction of how the fight would go. I didn't see this coming.
Third, interesting how the voluptuousness of Bra's figure got toned down since the fight with King Cold. She's looking swole. Moreso than Vegito I think.

I think a lot of people have Vegeta pictured as this uber honorable warrior who would never fall back to cheap tricks, when the dude was ruthless as can be and did whatever it took to win through the whole series when it was convenient. Sucker punching Cell like that is totally in character.

This panel of Goku ignoring everything and going 'Hey, can I fight now?' is completely unnecessary. It's Dragon Ball Super in terms of behaviour and so abrupt in tonal shift that it makes him look apathetic to everything that has happened. People could of course debate of whether he's in character or not, but again, the panel doesn't need to be there and could just as easily be removed for more audience reaction. This is a a fanfic of post-Z not DBS, so I'm beginning to wonder if, in absence of trying to imagine Goku 20 years after the end of Z, began watching DBS recently...
I'm beginning to feel that Asura and Salagir are suffering from the same thing that many authors have. Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball GT are especially guilty of this: Not knowing how to write or present Goku properly.

But this... doesn't stick the landing. Vegetto's pissed, Vegetto has a point, a line is being drawn, Gast has special powers, everybody is back, Bra is emotionally broken, and... now everyone's cool with Bra. Even Bra is cool with Bra.

> I still don't buy Bra suddenly going all sadistic here. The closest we ever came to this in the real DBZ is when Gohan first went SSJ2 and Cell made a point of mentally breaking him down beforehand. I feel like this needed more setup of Bra getting humiliated and Goten being in danger to make her snap believable.
> Seriously though, this is an interesting pattern I'm starting to notice. Every now and then she gets mad and her power gets out of hand, but on rare occasion she straight up goes on a slaughter. Everyone was calling Mary Sue before because she had generic "oh no my power is too great to control" issues but that's two brothers she's killed now grinning ear to ear. This character isn't very redeemable but damn if she isn't growing on me.
I have to agree with both of these. A little more setup would have improved this but, ironically enough, most often complain that the comic is moving too slowly, and they'd have a point.
>Try putting yourself in the shoes of a kid born with immense power and forced to train and fight all your life while being denied a childhood. Instead being sent to countless, never ending battlefields, made into a peacekeeper, and having tons of responsibility shoved on you. All on top of not being able to choose anything in your life nor having any friends due to this lifestyle forced on you. It would greatly change your perspective if you did that.
Eh?
* She wasn't "forced to train and fight all of her life." She's, what, 9-12 years old at this point in the story?
* She wasn't denied a childhood. Her mother is rich and educated.
* We saw Bra complain about not getting to train, and specifically going over to Gohan's in order to spar with him. It's quite likely she CHOSE this. Because she's a Saiyan.
* We have barely seen Bra "forced into neverending battleifleds" in the main comic so it's a bit hard to believe that would be what's making her like this.

...ironic. Bra broke Gohan's spine. Now a female Bojack wannabe broke hers. Also, the wannabe is probably the buff chick's girlfriend, like Zanguya was Bojack's, and Bra snapped her neck by acciden.

So who or what do we imagine this new threat will be like? Seems like they're on a planet that's mostly water in one of those panels. But that one dude is talking about "bases" so... I have no idea what's going on here.
I read on the forums somewhere that Salagir, allegedly, called the tournament the "beginning" to a much grander adventure. He did this awhile ago on Kanzenshuu.
I've been imagining my own version of DBM for awhile now and reviewing chapters for months, and partly just to distract myself from how depressing my and everybody else's lives are right now, so I never forgot the circumstances. No one said Vegito was a great father. Vegito flat out said he will kill his daughter before she become stronger than him! that's U13 Vegeta's level of evil!
Page 742 has a pretty telling shot of Vegetto getting so pissed off about not getting to fight he's willing to threaten Gohan. I mean, I don't think most dads, even hotheads, fantasize about literally breaking their children's skulls.
It's been pretty clear to me for awhile now that Vegetto was going to be a threat, and was more sinister than he appeared. The visions Bardock had indicated something would be wrong, and that Bra wouldn't be on his side. We got a scene of Vegetto outright threatening Gohan over something trivial. Now we have a scene that kind of explains why Bra doesn't treat Vegetto like a father figure.
It's certainly an extreme, and pretty evil, but regardless of how the next page/chapter rationalizes it this hasn't come completely out of nowhere. Vegetto's been written as an arrogant, violent hothead more than once. Remember how he acted when he tried to force Ginyu out of Bra's body. "Against Vegetto you can only obey?"
Also, it might be an unreliable narrator as others have said - this could be in reference to Vegetto trying to make Bra angry way back in the Universe 16 special.
> This is ridiculous and makes zero sense. It completely throws away any sense of logic. Vegito is a combination of Goku and Vegeta's best traits. His personality has no reason to be muderous to his children. Not Goku or Vegeta EVER showed traits like this.
Makes plenty of sense. Somebody else said it best, and I'm just throwing in my two cents.
Goku: wants a challenge
Vegeta: doesn't want to be surpassed.
Vegerot: both, and on top of that he's Vegeta without being redeemed on the Dragonball goodness scale. Plus, ten years of being an all-powerful space cop.
Not saying that this was Salagir's actual reasoning, but it's a neat twist if you ask me.

Eh, I never really liked that explanation. I and I was happier that Super gave it an explanation but... others didn't like that retcon. And I kind of understand. It's a retcon. It trivializes potara fusion to Vegeta being a goober.
That said, a little more cohesion with the main story and fewer detours at this point would be nice. I'm not saying DBM is bad or catering to the critics, but if we did just follow several pages of Kakaditz going on a rampage before that IKL dude arrived, I hope it serves the greater story.
